The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples- Zamboanga City Office (NCIP-ZCO) successfully conducted an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activity on the Revised National Guidelines on Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representation (IPMR) to the Local Legislative Councils and Policy-Making Bodies at Barangay Cawit, Zamboanga City.

The activity aimed to strengthen awareness and understanding of the roles, functions, and importance of IP Mandatory Representatives in promoting and protecting the rights and welfare of Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) in local governance.

Strengthening partnerships and empowering Indigenous communities through sustainable livelihood initiatives.The Field Validation Activity for Subproject Component 3 of the Mindanao Inclusive Agriculture Development Project (MIADP) was successfully conducted in collaboration with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Zamboanga City, the Provincial Local Government Unit of Sibuco, and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).

As part of the activity, stakeholders conducted an on-site validation of the proposed mud crab production area located in Brgy. Panganuran, Sibuco, Zamboanga Del Norte under the Indigenous Peoples Organization (IPO) that is being considered for startup livelihood funding assistance. The initiative aims to support sustainable aquaculture development, strengthen local livelihoods, and provide inclusive economic opportunities for Indigenous communities.

Together, we continue to build stronger communities through collaboration, empowerment, and sustainable development. 🌿🦀

Through the presence of Mr. Richard Pamaran, the NCIP ZCO joined the significant milestone for the Indigenous Peoples community of Arena Blanco during the Oath Taking Ceremony of Hon. Abdulmuin Pito, the 1st Yakan IPMR of Arena Blanco, officially administered by Hon. Alih Abdulhussin, Barangay Captain of Arena Blanco.

This moment symbolizes recognition, representation, and strengthened participation of Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples in local governance. As an Ancestral Domain claimant of the Bajao ICCs/IPs, Arena Blanco continues to uphold inclusivity and empowerment for all IP communities.
