The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region IX, led by Regional Director Albert E. Gutib, graced the PESO FAIR: Connecting You to Opportunities held today, 29 May 2026, at the KCC Convention Center, Zamboanga City.
The one-day job fair, organized by the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Zamboanga City in partnership with DOLE, brought together 37 participating employers, composed of 30 local employers and 7 Overseas Recruitment Agencies, offering a combined total of 26,887 job vacancies for jobseekers.
Also present during the activity was Councilor Benjamin โBGโ B. Guingona IV, Chairperson of the Committee on Labor, Industrial Relations, and Migrant Workers Affairs. Representatives from partner government agencies, including PhilHealth, SSS, Pag-IBIG Fund, TESDA, DICT, and BIR, likewise joined the activity through the provision of One-Stop-Shop services.
In his message, RD Gutib emphasized the importance of job fairs in bringing employment opportunities closer to the people, especially amid the latest labor market situation in Region IX, where the employment rate declined from 97.7% to 93.3%.
โThese realities remind us why job fairs are essential. They provide accessible opportunities for our workers, help employers find qualified applicants, and strengthen collaboration between government and the private sector in addressing employment concerns,โ RD Gutib said.
