Kimkimay Lake. This is one of the several lakes of the province located in Tuquib, Villaviciosa, Abra. It covers an approximate area of one hectare amidst hills bordering Barangays Tuquib and Cal-lao, both in Villaviciosa. Kimkimay Lake, according to the legend, this place was formerly a dwelling place where several families lived. The legend says, that the families engaged in so many vices, so they were punished by gods, sinking their community and submerging it in cold water. Today the Lake is a favorite place for town picnickers using it as a swimming pool and a place for fishing. This place can be reached from Bangued (the provincial capital) traveling along a 32-kilometer winding Penarrubia- Villaviciosa- Pilar Road which is similar to the famous Kennon Road. Transportation is readily available with jeepneys and mini-buses plying the Penarrubia- Villaviciosa route with a traveling time of one hour.
