In accordance with Proclamation No. 563, s. 1959, Public Library Day is celebrated every March 9. The , together with public libraries nationwide, leads the celebration to highlight the important role of public libraries in promoting knowledge, literacy, and lifelong learning. This yearโ€™s celebration of Public Library Day is a milestone in our shared commitment to lifelong learning for every Filipino. As we move into the second year of our three-year roadmap, we are shifting from the
Foundation Phase (2025) to the Action Phase (2026).

In 2025, our focus was on the โ€œhowโ€, guiding LGUs to set up their public libraries and affiliate with the National Library of the Philippines (NLP) for technical support. This year, we highlight the โ€œwhy.โ€ We want to make it clear that Philippine public libraries are more than quiet spaces with books. They are dynamic, community- building hubs, โ€œas living blueprintsโ€ that strengthen learning, connection, and empowerment in every community.

Here is the official poster for the 67th Public Library Day. Public libraries are encouraged to download and
print the poster using the editable version on Canva and display it prominently in their respective libraries.

To further promote this celebration, the NLP also encourages all public libraries to share photos of their
activities on Facebook and in the Philippine Public Libraries Facebook Group, participate in the SocMed Storytelling ActivityB, and use the hashtags:

Let us work together in celebrating the important role of public libraries in building informed, empowered, and connected communities.

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts joins the nation in celebrating International Womenโ€™s Day and National Women's Month, a time to honor the strength, leadership, and enduring contributions of Filipino women. ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญโœจ

In line with the call of the Philippine Commission on Women, this yearโ€™s celebration invites Women and Everyone (WE) to advance gender equality and womenโ€™s empowerment through a whole-of-government and all-of-society effort. With the sub-theme โ€œLead like the Babaylans, Filipinas!โ€, we are reminded of the powerful legacy of the Babaylans of pre-colonial Philippines; women leaders whose influence was rooted in knowledge, empathy, and moral guidance. ๐ŸŒฟ

May this celebration inspire us to recognize and uplift the many ways Filipino women leadโ€”with courage, care, and convictionโ€”in homes, communities, and across the cultural landscape.

Across generations, Filipino women have embodied courage, resilience, compassion, and wisdomโ€”qualities that continue to shape communities, culture, and nationhood.

PEBRERO NA SA WAKAS! NATIONAL ARTS MONTH NA!

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts, through the Subcommission on the Arts and the Conrado Ladislawa Alcantara Foundation Inc., continues to celebrate Filipino artistry and creativity with National Arts Month 2026 by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 683.

This year, its overarching theme โ€œAni ng Sining: Katotohanan at Gitingโ€, underscores how the arts uphold truth, courage, and collaboration and how it contributes to building livable communities, responsible governance, and a sustainable society. llustrating that art is not merely the product of the creative mind, also highlights arts as the outcome of peoplesโ€™ shared experiences and collective aspirations. As an expression of truth and valor, art becomes a wellspring of hope and a guiding force towards a more just and progressive society.

Halina't Maki-Sining!
