The City Environment and Natural Resources Office is deeply saddened about the passing of one of its dynamic and dedicated staff, Forester Andrew P. Jardin.

Forester Jardin is the acting chief of Forest Laws and Enforcement Section who is involved in patrols or surveillance to deter or detect criminal activity, the investigation of crimes, and the apprehension and prosecution of forest laws offenders. His work is contributory for reducing illegal practices in the forest sector.

But above all, his affection has impacted the lives of countless others, particularly in the City ENRO. His warm spirit will continue to live on in our hearts.

Our deepest sympathy to the bereaved family.

TODAY IS WORLD OZONE DAY!

“Ozone for life” is the slogan for World Ozone Day 2020. This year, we celebrate 35 years of global ozone layer protection.

The slogan of the day, “Ozone for life”, reminds us that ozone is crucial for our life on Earth and we must continue to protect the ozone layer for our future generations also.

This year, we celebrate 35 years of the Vienna Convention and 35 years of global ozone layer protection.

World Ozone Day is observed on September 16, every year. It is celebrated to spread awareness among people about the depletion of the Ozone Layer and search for possible solutions to preserve it. On this day, people from all over the world are expected to join the Montreal protocol to join the talks and seminars. A number of commonly used chemicals have been found to be extremely damaging to the ozone layer.

Life on Earth would not be possible without sunlight. But the energy emanating from the sun would be too much for life on Earth to thrive were it not for the ozone layer. This stratospheric layer shields Earth from most of the sun’s harmful ultraviolet radiation.

The Ozone layer or also known as the Ozone shield, a delicate layer of gas, in the Earth’s stratosphere absorbs most of the Sun’s ultraviolet rays. These rays can cause numerous skin diseases.

Turn over of the the Update Land Cover maps of the entire Province of Bukidnon as well as of the City of Valencia for 2018.

Present were Dr. J Andres F. Ignacio, Director for Planning and Geomatics Manager from the Environmental Science for Social Change (ESSC), Mr. Gilbert Huervas from the City Mayor's Office, Forester Julius M. Parian and Engineer Marlino Guererro, City ENR Officer ang City Planning & Development Coordinator respectively.

The updated land cover will be used as basis in formulating plans for the City.
