May 12, 2026 – San Martin North Main Canal IA, Inc. was successfully validated as a National Nominee for the 51st Gawad Saka: Parangal para sa mga Natatanging Magsasaka at Mangingisda under the category Outstanding Irrigators Association – Rice Cluster (NIS Category).

The validation was conducted by the National Technical Committee composed of representatives from the National Irrigation Administration, Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), and the National Rice Program. The team thoroughly assessed the association’s overall performance and accomplishments in the areas of Operation and Maintenance (O&M), Financial Performance, and Agricultural Assistance and Linkages.

Present during the validation were representatives and personnel from NIA Region X, DA- RFO X, NIA- Bukidnon IMO, the Provincial Agriculture Office of Bukidnon, Local Government Unit of Malaybalay, and Barangay Local Government Unit of San Martin, all of whom expressed their full support and solidarity with the association throughout the activity. Their presence highlighted the strong collaboration among partner agencies and stakeholders in promoting agricultural productivity, sustainable irrigation management, and farmer empowerment within the community.

The successful validation reflects the association’s unwavering commitment to excellence, effective irrigation management, strong leadership, and continuous support to its farmer-members. It also underscores the dedication, cooperation, and hard work of the association’s officers, members, and partner institutions in achieving high standards of service and organizational performance.

The System Management Committee (SMC) Meeting of the 9 Irrigators Associations under Pulangui River Irrigation System – North Main Canal Federation of IA, Inc. was successfully conducted on April 29, 2026, at Brgy. Sinanglanan, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon in preparation for the Wet Season 2026.

The meeting focused on the scheduling of Water Delivery and Distribution to ensure efficient and equitable irrigation management during this El Niño alert.

This meaningful activity was attended by representatives from NIA Bukidnon IMO, Mr. Charlie M. Calonge, SWRFT; Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation Region 10, Mr. Mohammad Hamman B. Ibrahim, Insurance Underwriter; City Agriculture Office of Malaybalay, Ms. Vilma Guyo, Agriculture Extension Worker; Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering Division, Engr. Naomie H. Delos Reyes, OIC; Malaybalay City Agriculture Committee, Hon. Allan Ryan O. Legaspi; and the City Mayor’s Office, Mr. John Valmores, Executive Officer.

Also present was Hon. Jay Warren R. Pabillaran, City Mayor of Malaybalay, showing his full support to the federation and to the farming community.

Through cooperation and proper planning, this initiative aims to secure a productive and sustainable cropping season for all farmers.

To further strengthen irrigation services and advance sustainable agricultural development in Bukidnon, the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Regional Office 10 conducted a series of inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects under NIA Bukidnon IMO on February 12, 2026.

Leading the inspection were Engr. Benitez K. Derogongan, Acting Regional Manager of NIA Region X, together with Engr. Pol Pablito P. Gamotin, Acting Division Manager of the Engineering and Operations Division; Engr. Armando E. Arizala, Division Manager A of NIA Bukidnon IMO; and Engr. Alfie L. Yazar, Engineering Section Head of NIA Bukidnon IMO.

The activity forms part of NIA’s continuing efforts to ensure that irrigation infrastructure projects are implemented according to design standards and timelines, supporting the agency’s mission of providing reliable and sustainable irrigation systems that help improve farm productivity and uplift the lives of Filipino farmers.

✅ Projects Inspected:

1. Construction of 15 HP Solar-Powered Pump at Pulangui RIS (Sto. Niño Area), Malaybalay City, Bukidnon
2. Construction of Protection D**e at Nabag-o Dam (upstream/downstream sections including proposed road alignment) of Pulangui RIS, Valencia City, Bukidnon
3. Construction of Sabo Dam 5 at Nabalantungan River, Dagumbaan, Maramag, Bukidnon
(Pulangui RSCIP – Phase 1, Package A)
4. Construction of Irrigation and Diversion Dam at Brgy. Panalsalan, including service road and channels of Sabo Dam 5 and groundsill at Brgy. Bagong Silang along Nabalantungan River, Maramag, Bukidnon
(Pulangui RSCIP – Phase 1, Package B)

Through these inspections, NIA ensures that vital irrigation and flood mitigation structures—such as solar-powered pumping systems, protection dikes, sabo dams, and diversion facilities—are built to safeguard irrigation assets, enhance water delivery, and improve resilience in farming communities.
