My existence began from a legend. A legend passed on to generations. A legend that was instilled into the hearts of the people who embodied and represent my name. A legend that pierced through the very soul of mankind and let the history begin.
I was still... going with the flow of nature. I see same old faces, young and old. Folks come with their nets and creels, with their ropes and buffaloes. I embrace them everyday ‘coz this is the purpose of my existence... to dwell with them from season to seasons.
But one day, I was hurt, humiliated and ignored. My name was trampled, stepped on and tried to banish me from history. They tried to change my name, the very name that gave this place its identity. But my people were awakened, stood up and fought for me. From near and afar... they came together in unity - to restore back my name! And I saw their courage and perseverance to fight what is just and right! There were sleepless nights gathering legitimate proofs so not to loose me. And so I felt that every beat in their hearts.
It is not only about honor, dignity, pride nor even popularity. It is about RESPECT to the ancestors who was once an overseer for me. It is about LOVE that flourished in their childhood’s memoirs.
