𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲.

The final day of NPSC 2026 opened with 𝗚𝗼𝘃. 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗷𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗼-𝗙𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗰 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗻 and her keynote, “𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.”

Her message reminded Patriot Scholars that meaningful solutions begin by listening. Before we design, we must understand. Before we act, we must see the realities people face.

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻’𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲.

Under the theme “𝗛𝗶𝘄𝗮𝗴𝗮 𝗮𝘁 𝗔𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘁: 𝗔 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗲,” the 4th National Patriot Scholars Congress transformed its Socials Night into a celebration of Philippine folklore, regional identity, and the creativity of Filipino youth.

Bringing the stories of 𝗕𝗶𝘂𝗮𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗮 to life, the Cagayan Valley delegation reimagined the legendary figures of Cagayan through music, movement, and storytelling. Their performance explored timeless ideas of courage, selflessness, love, and service while connecting an old legend to values that remain relevant today.

More than a cultural performance, the stage became a space where scholars could translate heritage into a language their generation understands.

From the stories passed down by our ancestors to the voices of today’s scholars, culture continues to evolve, connect, and inspire.

Because keeping a legend alive is not only about remembering its story. It is about finding meaning in it for the generation that comes next.

At Plenary Talk 4: “𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗺: 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲, 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿-𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀,” Ms. Rosejelynn Bulante, Training Partner of SMESoft Inc., led Patriot Scholars through workshops and reflective activities on succession, knowledge transfer, and developing future leaders.

The session emphasized that strong science organizations grow when knowledge is shared, leadership is transferred, and new ideas are given room to emerge.

For scholar-leaders, building a legacy means more than completing a project or finishing a term. It means leaving behind systems that work, knowledge that continues to be shared, and people who are ready to take the work further.

At Plenary Talk 3: “𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗜,” Mr. Peter Jeffrey Maloles, DOST Scholar Graduate, Science Communicator, and Marine Scientist, challenged Patriot Scholars to use AI as a tool for learning and communication, not as a substitute for critical thinking.

The session highlighted the importance of evidence, accuracy, credibility, and responsibility in communicating science in a digital landscape shaped by AI and rapidly changing information.

As technology transforms how knowledge is created and shared, the responsibility remains the same: learn deeply, verify carefully, and communicate with purpose.

𝗦𝗘𝗜 𝗧𝗢𝗗𝗔𝗬 | More than 500 DOST-SEI undergraduate scholars, scholarship coordinators, and regional scholars’ association directors have convened in Koronadal City for the National Patriot Scholars Congress (NPSC) 2026.

Carrying the theme, “Facing the Nation: Strengthening Scholar Leadership through Science, Stories, and Service,” puts the spotlight on the power of science communication, storytelling, and community engagement in shaping the next generation of scholar-leaders.

Throughout the annual two-day gathering, scholar-delegates from across the country will take part in plenary sessions led by seasoned speakers, showcase impactful regional initiatives, and connect with fellow scholars in celebration of leadership and service.

All Grade 12 students enrolled in pilot schools implementing the Strengthened Senior High School (SHS) Curriculum are now eligible to apply for the 2027 DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship.

Applicants enrolled in the Strengthened SHS Curriculum are required to submit Form E5 along with other required forms via https://ugs.science-scholarships.ph/

📅 Application is ongoing until September 17, 2026 (Thursday). Applicants are advised to submit their applications early.

In his opening remarks at the National Patriot Scholars Congress 2026, Engr. Albert G. Mariño of DOST-SEI challenged our scholar-leaders to look beyond titles and accomplishments and focus instead on understanding the people they serve and creating lasting impact.

In his welcome message for the National Patriot Scholars Congress 2026, Eng. Sammy P. Malawan, Regional Director of DOST XII, reminded our scholars that knowledge and experience gain greater meaning when directed toward service.
