๐๐๐ | Young aspiring entrepreneurs in Cagayan are taking their first steps toward building sustainable enterprises as the 2026 Youth Entrepreneurship Program โ Be Your Own Boss (YEP-BYOB) officially opens today, September 1, at the Cagayan Provincial Farm School and Agri-Tourism Center, Anquiray, Amulung, Cagayan.
Conducted in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Cagayan (PGC) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 2 - Cagayan Provincial Office, the three-day activity running from September 1โ3 gathers a total of 45 participants representing 4-H Clubs across 12 municipalities in the provinceโnamely Lal-lo, Sanchez Mira, Santa Ana, Tuguegarao City, Iguig, Solana, Sto. Niรฑo, Ballesteros, Baggao, Camalaniugan, Tuao, and Gattaranโtogether with their respective Municipal 4-H Club Coordinators. The program aims to equip these youth leaders with essential entrepreneurial knowledge and practical skills, covering business ideation, market understanding, business planning, digital entrepreneurship, and pitching.
The opening program commenced with a warm welcome from Acting Provincial Agriculturist Engr. Arsenio A. Antonio, who officially welcomed all participants, facilitators, and visitors. In his remarks, Engr. Antonio emphasized the vital role of the youth in modernizing local industries and integrating agribusiness into their potential ventures.
Setting an inspiring tone for the event, Dr. Pearlita Lucia P. Mabasa from the Vision Team - Agriculture Cluster delivered a message on behalf of Governor Edgar B. Aglipay. In the Governor's message, she highlighted the provincial government's steadfast commitment to youth development and agricultural innovation under the administration's platform, encouraging the participants to harness their skills and turn entrepreneurial ideas into sustainable local enterprises.
The program also featured a dedicated video message from DTI R2 Regional Director Ma. Sofia G. Narag, CESO V, who underscored the importance of youth involvement in local economic development by driving innovation, generating future employment, and helping build resilient communities across the region.
Following the opening messages, Provincial Local Youth Development Officer Meynard Abram Ventura acknowledged the attendees, while DTI R2 Cagayan Business Development Division Chief Cynthia C. Talattad presented the program background, overview, and objectives, and formally introduced the team of resource speakers.
The entrepreneurship sessions are facilitated by a pool of expert Resource Speakers from DTI R2 Cagayan who underwent specialized Trainers' Training for the YEP-BYOB program, equipping them with the expertise to guide the participants throughout the modules. The team includes TIDS Jessamae Babaran, alongside Negosyo Center Business Counselors (NCBCs) Khrisia Ann Lim, Jose Talosig III, Delila Mayormita, Gracel Manegdeg, and Precy Cristobal.
Also present during the activity are Provincial 4-H Club Coordinator Ricky Timple and Provincial Cooperative Development Officer Christopher Coral.
