In line with the shared commitment to building resilient and interoperable communications, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region 2, together with the 5th Signal Battalion, Signal Regiment, and the Philippine National Police (PNP), conducted comprehensive testing of key communication assets.

This joint initiative aims to reinforce operational readiness and ensure seamless coordination among partner agencies within the Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC). By validating equipment capabilities, communication systems, and cross-agency protocols, DICT Region 2, the 5th Signal Battalion, and the PNP continue to strengthen critical communications infrastructure to ensure rapid, dependable, and coordinated response efforts during emergencies and disaster operations.

𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐃𝐓𝐂 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬!

The DICT Region 2 successfully conducted the Tech4Ed - Digital Transformation Center (DTC) Center Managers Training last August 26-27, 2026, at the DTC Carig Regional Center, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

This two-day activity aimed to equip our dedicated Center Managers from all across the region—stretching from Abulug down to LGU Aritao—with advanced skills, updated operational guidelines, and innovative strategies to turn our local DTCs into thriving hubs for community development and digital inclusion.

Highlights of the 2-Day Training:
🧠 Day 1: AI-Powered Productivity with NotebookLM – Center Managers explored Google's NotebookLM to streamline research, synthesize documents, and enhance knowledge management in their respective centers.
♿ Day 2: Inclusive Technology with NVDA Screen Reader – Participants dove into NonVisual Desktop Access (NVDA) software to empower Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), ensuring digital accessibility and inclusive ICT services for visually impaired citizens.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region II, under the leadership of Assistant Secretary and Concurrent Regional Director Engr. Pinky T. Jimenez, proudly celebrates the young digital champions who turned creativity into a powerful tool for promoting online safety, digital responsibility, and cybersecurity awareness.

This competition holds special regional significance as it provides a platform for learners across Region II to become active voices in building safer digital communities. Through their video entries, our students showed that cybersecurity awareness begins not only in offices and institutions, but also in schools, homes, and local communities.

These young innovators proved that cybersecurity is not just about systems and passwords. It is also about awareness, vigilance, and using our voices to protect one another in the digital world.

𝐃𝐈𝐂𝐓 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐯𝐚 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐆𝐔 𝐍𝐚𝐠𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐧

Turning a blank layout into a polished, ready-to-post design used to mean waiting on someone else's schedule, or settling for a plain, text-heavy flyer. Personnel from the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Nagtipunan, Quirino are now learning to do it themselves, following an Advanced Canva Training conducted by the DICT Quirino Provincial Office, with participants from different departments and offices across the municipality.

The session moved beyond Canva's basics, walking participants through advanced features and hands-on activities built around the materials they use every day: presentations, posters, announcements, social media content, and reports.

The goal was simple – help LGU personnel use digital tools more effectively and produce materials clear, organized, and professional enough to represent their offices well. Those same skills are already carrying over into daily tasks, shaping how government information reaches the public.

DICT Quirino continues to support local government units by providing practical digital skills and tools that contribute to better work, better communication, and better public service.

The 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲, 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗮 took part in a training on the 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀, aimed at strengthening their practical digital skills and supporting more efficient delivery of services within the community.

Through hands-on sessions on 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱, 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹, 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀, participants gained practical knowledge that they can apply to their day-to-day responsibilities—from preparing official documents and organizing records to managing data and creating presentations. More than simply learning how to use technology, the activity provided barangay frontliners with tools that can help make their work more organized, responsive, and efficient.

28 August 2026 — DICT Regional Office 2 partnered with the Medical Colleges of Northern Philippines (MCNP) and the International School of Asia and the Pacific (ISAP), through their Human Resource Management Office, Office of Student Services, and Council of Leaders, for a Digital Responsibility and Security Awareness Session themed "𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲?", highlighting the role of informed choices in building safer schools and communities.

As Assistant Secretary for Infostructure Management and Concurrent Regional Director 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗸𝘆 𝗧. 𝗝𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘇 often says, "𝘼𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙣𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙙. 𝘼𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚"— words that speak not just to connectivity, but to promoting responsible digital use and cyber awareness in every community DICT serves.

Resource person 𝗠𝘀. 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗩. 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗴𝗮, 𝗜𝗟𝗖𝗗𝗕 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹, led the session, guiding over 𝟵𝟬𝟬 students, faculty, and staff through the risks of oversharing, how to spot online threats, and how to build a culture of accountability online, encouraging everyone to "think before you click."

The activity is part of DICT's continuing push for cybersecurity literacy and responsible digital citizenship across Region 2.

𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐍𝐎𝐖 | 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟏 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐄𝐂𝐇𝐐𝐔𝐄𝐒𝐓: 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐮𝐛𝐢𝐤’𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐚 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

The Department of Information and Communications Technology Region 2 is currently conducting the Day 1 training for elementary school learners in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, as part of the TECHQUEST: Robotics and Rubik’s Challenge for Academia 2026.

The training is being conducted simultaneously at the DTC Cagayan - San Gabriel and DTC Cagayan - Carig Sur, providing participating learners with hands-on learning experiences in robotics, problem-solving, critical thinking, and technology.

The activity is made possible through the collaboration and support of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tuguegarao City, in partnership with the Department of Education, whose collective efforts help advance digital learning and technology education among young learners in the city.

The training was also graced by DICT Assistant Secretary and Concurrent Regional Director, Engr. Pinky T. Jimenez, highlighting the Department’s continued commitment to nurturing young minds and fostering innovation through technology.
