𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗲𝘀, 𝗧𝗮𝗶𝗹, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝘂𝗯𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝘀: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗜𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀.

Ding, ang bato! From the heavens with Darna to the seven seas with Dyesebel, Mars Ravelo has created the Filipino superheroes who have become immortal in pop culture. Dubbed the "King of Philippine Komiks," Ravelo's characters were as much part of the country's history as the breadwinner and the other archetypal figures of local folklore.

In Liwayway, Ravelo chronicled his characters' adventures which had homegrown issues as subjects and triumphant hope as a common thread. Today, Ravelo's creations still fascinate Filipinos, and have become embedded fixtures in local cinema and television.

𝗕𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗚𝗜, 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗱𝗳𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘆 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Long before the advent of blockbuster cinema, there was one legendary artist who captured the hearts and minds of people through his masterful creations of epic, exciting adventures. This “Dean of Filipino Illustrators” brought to life such beloved comic book characters as Hagibis and Pedro Penduko, whose thrilling exploits and larger-than-life personas captivated generations of Filipino readers.

With a prolific career that saw the creation of more than 60 comic book titles, Francisco will be remembered as the great innovator who defined the visual grammar of Filipino popular culture. His work, which has been hailed as the very best that the Philippines has to offer, has earned him a place in the annals of history as a National Artist.

Come join us as we kick off National Comic Book Month by celebrating the creative and talented authors and illustrators in our community! Project N.A.R.D.A. (Nurturing Awareness and Recognition of Drawing and Artistry) is a week-long program running from September 28th- October 2nd, 2026.

Let's come together in appreciation for the creative minds, illustrators, and comic book lovers in our community. Let's celebrate the artistic expression and imagination that makes comic books such a wonderful medium to enjoy!

Our participants explored the shelves, cracked clues, hunted down the right books, and took on every challenge with curiosity, teamwork, and a little competitive spirit. From “wait, saan ‘to?” moments to the ultimate “ i found it”, every round brought a new discovery.

We are honored to welcome Head Chief PHAO Captain Guliman and Fire Officer Mr. Callo, Alumni Batch 2010, from the Regional BFP Office for a quick library visit. Truly, it is an absolute pleasure to host such distinguished public servants and share the learning spaces dedicated to our students.

It is indeed a special moment to welcome back both of them, proud alumnus who returned to their alma mater and received their official yearbook. We sincerely appreciate both officers for taking the time to visit and reconnect with our school community.

Cagayan National High School-JHS-Library warmly welcomes its new batch of Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLIS) interns from Cagayan State University - Carig Campus on September 18, 2026.

The library team looks forward to being part of their journey as these future librarians build meaningful experiences, professional confidence, hone their skills, valuable lessons, new friendships and a deeper appreciation for the profession they have chosen.
