PRO 2 Intensifies Security Preparations for National Heroes Day
Camp Marcelo A. Adduru, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan — The Police Regional Office 2 (PRO 2) has intensified its security preparations and deployment of personnel in anticipation of the observance of National Heroes Day in Region 2, ensuring the safety and security of the public, motorists, commuters, tourists, and communities across the region.
This deployment underscores PRO 2’s commitment to maintaining peace and order during the holiday, particularly in areas expected to experience increased public activity, including transportation terminals, major thoroughfares, commercial establishments, places of convergence, tourist destinations, and other strategic locations.
Based on the current deployment plan, PRO 2 has mobilized personnel for police visibility and fixed patrols, traffic assistance, checkpoints, border control, standby duties, and other law enforcement functions. A total of 1,225 personnel are assigned for police visibility and fixed patrol operations, 341 for traffic assistance, and 900 for checkpoint operations across the region.
In addition, 264 personnel are designated for border control operations, 206 are on standby, and 728 are deployed as Reactionary Standby Support Force. Another 736 personnel are tasked with other law enforcement functions, including administrative and support duties.
PRO 2 personnel will maintain heightened police visibility and conduct proactive security measures to deter criminal activities, address traffic concerns, respond to emergencies, and provide immediate assistance to the public. Checkpoint and border control operations will likewise be conducted in accordance with existing police protocols, with emphasis on preventing criminal activities and intercepting individuals or vehicles involved in unlawful acts.
The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and immediately report suspicious persons, activities, or unattended items to the nearest police station or law enforcement personnel. Motorists are likewise urged to observe traffic rules, exercise patience, and cooperate with authorities, particularly in areas where traffic management and security operations are being implemented.
PRO 2 Regional Director, PBGen Mariano C. Rodriguez, emphasized that the deployment is intended not only to address security concerns but also to ensure that the public can commemorate National Heroes Day in a peaceful, orderly, and safe environment.
“Our Valley Cops are fully prepared to perform their duties and ensure the safety of our communities throughout the National Heroes Day observance. We appeal to the public to cooperate with our personnel, remain vigilant, and help us maintain a peaceful celebration as we honor the sacrifices and contributions of our national heroes. This is the essence of Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman,” he said.
PRO 2 assures the public that police operations will remain proactive, coordinated, and people-centered throughout the holiday period. All concerned police units have been directed to maintain readiness and ensure the prompt delivery of police services whenever and wherever needed.
