OOA 0507H, 02 January 2026, the Bureau of Fire Protection Region 2, under the leadership of FSSUPT VICTORIA A DOMINGO, Regional Director, conducted a rescue operation following a vehicular collision involving a Florida Bus and a pick-up vehicle along Diversion Road, Pallua, Tuguegarao City.

The response was led by the Special Rescue Force (SRF) headed by FSUPT ANGEL S DIQUIATCO JR, together with personnel from the BFP Tuguegarao City Fire Station and RESCUE 1111. The team performed extrication operations to safely remove trapped occupants from the severely damaged pick-up vehicle while ensuring proper victim stabilization and overall scene safety.

The Bureau of Fire Protection's Special Rescue Unit (BFP SRF)-Region 2 through the leadership of FCSUPT JERRY C LAMANERO, Regional Director, BFP-Region 2 under the direct supervision of FSUPT ANGEL S DIQUIATCO JR, together with Tuguegarao City Fire Station, CDRRM, and PNP assisted to an emergency incident occurred at Bagay Road, Caritan Centro, Tuguegarao City involving a Fortuner that was struck by a large fallen tree. Uprooted tree causing destruction of the vehicle and temporarily trapped the passengers inside.

Emergency responders from the different agencies quickly arrived at the scene to assist the passengers and secure the area. Thankfully, no fatalities have been reported, but the driver sustained injuries and was rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment.

The BFP SRF-REGION 2 shared knowledge and skills on Basic Rope Rescue, Basic Firefighting and Introduction to Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue to the PNP personnel came from different provinces.

Utilizing precise rope systems and anchoring techniques to rescue an individual stranded on a steep slope. The committed personnel of the BFP Special Rescue Force of the BFP-Region 2 through the leadership of FCSUPT JERRY C LAMANERO, DSC, Regional Director, under the supervision of FSUPT ANGEL S DIQUIATCO JR Chief SRF, together with the CDRRMO Team spearheaded by DR Roderick E Ramirez, immediately responded to an urgent call in Cataggaman Nuevo, Theresa Boulevard, Tuguegarao City. Despite the challenging conditions, the BFP Special Rescue Force-Region 2 successfully rescued an individual, highlighting their expertise and dedication.

The SRF team demonstrated exceptional bravery and technical skill adapting to the dynamic environment and prioritizing patient safety in a low angle rescue.

The victim sustains multiple injuries and was immediately brought to the nearest hospital.

Special Rescue Force through the leadership of FCSUPT JERRY C LAMANERO, DSC, Regional Director, BFP-REGION 2, under the direct supervision of FSUPT ANGEL S DIQUIATCO JR, Chief, Special Rescue Force Region 2 conducted a five day Water Search and Rescue Training to the Fire Trainees as part of the Fire Recruit Orientation Program.

Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) training is vital to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) because it equips personnel with the skills needed to respond effectively to water-related emergencies, such as floods, maritime accidents, and drowning incidents. Given the Philippines' vulnerability to typhoons and flooding, WASAR training enhances the BFP's capacity to save lives and provide critical support during natural disasters. It also broadens the scope of the BFP's rescue operations, ensuring that firefighters can address a wide range of emergencies beyond fires, thereby strengthening community safety and alertness.
