Iligan City receives PhP8.35-M worth of big-ticket corn projects

ILIGAN CITY – The Department of Agriculture - Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10), through Regional Executive Director Jose Apollo Y. Pacamalan, turned over PhP8.35-million (M) worth of agricultural production, harvesting and postharvest logistics support to the City Government of Iligan on Monday, October 6, to boost the city’s corn and cassava production.

The interventions, funded under the Corn Program through the Agricultural Machinery, Equipment, Facilities, and Infrastructure Program, include a 5-metric ton capacity drop-side hauling truck amounting to PhP2.57-M, a 12-metric ton input capacity with 93% heating efficiency recirculating dryer costing PhP3.7-M, and a combine harvester with a 400-kilogram grain tank capacity valued at PhP2.08-M.

Some 1,300 corn and cassava farmers are expected to benefit from the assistance, which aims to enhance post-harvest operations, reduce losses, and increase productivity in Iligan’s farming communities, covering 750 hectares of land planted to corn and 10 hectares to cassava. # (JLO)

Apil sa intervention ang mga farm inputs, gamit ug mga materyales, makinarya ug ekipo, mga imprastrakturang pang agrikultural, farm animals, ug veterinary supplies.

Gaandam na ang Department of Agriculture (DA) Region 10 para sa teknikal nga kapasidad sa Mobile Soil Laboratory (MSL) diin gipangulohan sa Regional Soils Laboratory (RSL) kauban ang DA- Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM), pinaagi sa pagpahigayon og Soil Chemical Training.

Nagtapok sa pagbansay ang mga MSL personnel sa DA Regions 8, 10, ug 13 para ipahimugna ang pag-analisar sa soil pH, electrical conductivity, organic carbon, total nitrogen, exchangeable bases sama sa potassium (K), sodium (Na), Calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), ug ubang elements sama sa copper (Cu), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), ug Zinc (Zn).

Nagkantidad ₱220,000 ang tagsa ubos sa Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program. Matutukan niini ang pagsuporta sa High-Value Crop Production Project sa mga benepisyaryo sa Lanao del Norte, ug mapadayon pa ang pagsiguro nga adunay pagkaon sa umaabot nga panahon.

Apil sa gihatag ang hands-on demonstration sa insaktong paggamit sa tractor ug uban pang teknikal nga tabang diin apil sa nagtudlo sa kahanas ang Regional Agricultural Engineering Division (RAED) team sa DA Region 10.

Aggie-10 primes Halal rabbit production, meat processing tech

Iligan City – As part of the campaign for the mainstreaming of rabbit production as Halal industry breakthrough in the region, the Department of Agriculture – Region 10 (Aggie-10) Halal Program holds the first installment of its Halal Rabbit Production and Meat Processing Training series on August 13 to 15, here.

Willie D. Nacalaban, a retired Aggie-10 employee and an experienced rabbit farmer, apprised members of the Iligan Rabbit Raisers Association and local processed food producers on the core principles of rabbit farming underscoring topics such as rabbit breeding and genetics, housing and environment, nutrition, health management, and marketing and economics.

DA-NorMin spearheads interagency Halal industry dev’t confab

Iligan City – To mobilize priority projects pipelined under the Halal Program, the DA-Region 10 (DA-NorMin) recently spearheaded the Northern Mindanao Halal Council Technical Working Group (TWG) coordination meeting.

In said gathering, the Department of Trade and Industry Provincial Director for Lanao del Norte, Jane Marie L. Tabucan, presented the region’s Halal Road Map outlining strategic directions and key action areas for the development and strengthening of the Halal industry in the region.

DA-NorMin Lanao del Norte Provincial Operations Center Chief and Halal Program Focal Person, Engr. Abdulharis P. Paporo, conveyed the budgetary allocation and status of Halal projects pipelined by the agency in 2025.

Apart from capacity building for Halal food production and processing, this year the DA-NorMin has proposed the construction of Halal slaughterhouse and dressing plant in Iligan City and Munai town in Lanao del Norte, respectively.

Agri-10 supports corn farmers' mobility with hauling truck turnover to a Sultan Naga Dimaporo town-based coop

SULTAN NAGA DIMAPORO, LANAO DEL NORTE – Eyeing to boost income and operational efficiency among local producers, the Barangay Calube Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative (BACFA MPC), composed of 186-RSBSA registered farmer-members, continues to benefit from the PhP2.57-million hauling truck granted by the Department of Agriculture - Northern Mindanao, through its Corn Program.

The 5-metric ton capacity hauling unit, received by the Coop in May 2025, has aided the BACFA MPC's logistical capability. It is mainly used to transport their corn harvest, as well as other farm products such as copra and whole nuts.

Officially turned over today, August 4, the truck has enabled the farmers' group to convey their produce to factories and anchor firms across the province and nearby cities, thereby minimizing hauling costs, cutting delivery time, and helping maintain product quality. #
