The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) paid a courtesy visit to ๐†๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐จ๐ซ ๐Œ๐จ๐ก๐š๐ฆ๐š๐ ๐Š๐ก๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐. ๐ƒ๐ข๐ฆ๐š๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐จ on June 2, 2026, to discuss the planned slaughterhouse at the Metro Iligan Regional Agro-Industrial Center (MIRAIC) and other initiatives related to halal industry development in Lanao del Norte.

The meeting also covered NCMF's efforts to promote halal awareness in Northern Mindanao and support the continued growth of the halal industry in the region.

Opportunities for more establishments in the province, including restaurants, to pursue halal accreditation were likewise explored as part of broader efforts to strengthen halal-compliant services and enterprises in Lanao del Norte. PIO-LDN

The 5th Mechanized Infantry (Kaagapay) Battalion recognized Governor Mohamad Khalid Q. Dimaporo for his support in advancing peace and security initiatives during its 11th Activation Anniversary held on May 29, 2026, at Camp Allere in Salvador, Lanao del Norte.

The recognition was awarded in acknowledgment of the Governorโ€™s support for initiatives that promote sustainable peace and security in the province. Representing him during the anniversary celebration, Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Jonathan Puno received the plaque on his behalf.

TUBOD, Lanao del Norte โ€” Approximately 100 children with neurodevelopmental conditions in Region X are now receiving therapy assistance under a continuing intervention program supported by the National Commission on Disability Affairs (NCDA) and the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte.

The initiative follows the conduct of the Developmental Assessment, Rehabilitation, and Empowerment for Children with Disabilities (DARE-CAREvan) last March 25-26, which focused on early detection and intervention by bringing assessment and rehabilitation services closer to communities with limited access to specialized care.

During the DARE-CAREvan, Governor Mohamad Khalid Q. Dimaporo affirmed that the provincial government would provide the necessary support to complete the 12-month program. Under the initiative, beneficiaries are receiving a therapy allowance amounting to P2,400 per month for five months through the support of the NCDA, while the remaining months before the completion of the program will be supported by the provincial government. After the one-year program, the assistance is expected to be sustained by the respective local government units (LGUs).

NCDA Regional Programs Coordinator Randy Calsena emphasized the importance of sustaining therapy interventions for children following the assessment process, stating, โ€œHere we are, as promised, kailangan natin i-sustain ang ating initiative na after ng assessment ng mga batang may kapansanan, dapat tuloy-tuloy ang therapy.โ€

Parents of beneficiaries also expressed gratitude for the assistance and support provided through the initiative. One of the parents, Glorie Joy Alquizar, said, โ€œMapasalamaton kaayo mi nga naay ingon ani nga programa nga maghatag pud sa amoa ug hope nga makapa-therapy gyud among anak.โ€

The program aims to strengthen access to intervention and rehabilitation services for children with disabilities while encouraging continued support from partner agencies and local government units across the region. PIO-LDN

As part of the Eid al-Adha celebration and the recent Qurban, employees and personnel of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte gathered at the Childrenโ€™s Park within the Provincial Capitol for a shared meal, reflecting the values of sacrifice, gratitude, and generosity that define the occasion.

Despite differences in culture and religion, the gathering highlighted unity, fellowship, and mutual respect, as everyone came together to celebrate and share the meal as one family following the province-wide Qurban activities.

TUBOD, Lanao del Norte โ€” More than 100 cattle were prepared and distributed across Lanao del Norte on May 27, 2026, as part of the annual Qurban conducted during the observance of Eid al-Adha.

Muslim brothers and sisters in Tubod and Sultan Naga Dimaporo gathered for the Eid prayer to mark the Islamic celebration before the conduct of the Qurban activity in Agora, Tubod, where cattle were slaughtered and distributed to masjids and churches in different communities throughout the province.

The annual activity brought together volunteers and partner organizations who assisted in the preparation, slaughtering, packing, and distribution of meat intended for communities and families across Lanao del Norte. The Qurban was made possible through the support of the ICAD Foundation, with assistance from volunteers of the Inner Wheel Club, Tri SND Barracuda, and employees of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte.

Observed during Eid al-Adha, Qurban symbolizes sacrifice, charity, and community sharing, particularly through the distribution of food to communities across the province. PIO-LDN

TUBOD, Lanao del Norte โ€” Major development proposals, infrastructure priorities, and solid waste management plans were discussed during the joint meeting of the Provincial Development Council (PDC) and Provincial Solid Waste Management Board (PSWMB) held on May 26, 2026, at the Kalimudan Hall.

Presided over by ๐†๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐จ๐ซ ๐Œ๐จ๐ก๐š๐ฆ๐š๐ ๐Š๐ก๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐. ๐ƒ๐ข๐ฆ๐š๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐จ, one of the key agendas for the PDC was the approval of the proposed redevelopment of the Agora Bus Terminal into the Agora Hotel. Governor Dimaporo noted that with an existing operational bus terminal already serving Tubod, the proposed redevelopment would allow the Agora area to be utilized for another purpose. The proposal forms part of the rehabilitation plan included in the Strategic Vision Plan prepared by Palafox Associates for the Province of Lanao del Norte during the administration of former Governor and now Congresswoman Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo.

The council also approved the proposed KAPATID Sports Indoor Gymnasium, a project requested by Congresswoman Sittie Aminah D. Dimaporo. The proposed facility is intended to support grassroots sports programs under KAPATID, including volleyball, basketball, tennis, and other sports activities in the province.

During the meeting, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office, 1st District Engineering Office, and 2nd District Engineering Office also presented updates on priority projects under the 2026 General Appropriations Act (GAA) implementation, including summaries of cost estimates for infrastructure projects amid rising fuel prices affecting both vertical and horizontal construction projects.

For the Provincial Solid Waste Management Board, discussions included clustering proposals for municipal sanitary landfills (SLFs) in Lanao del Norte and the presentation of the Department of Science and Technologyโ€™s Solid Waste Management Inventory and Assessment.

The joint meeting highlighted continuing efforts to advance infrastructure development, strengthen local planning initiatives, and improve long-term development and environmental management strategies in Lanao del Norte. PIO-LDN

Water quality concerns and the recent fish kill incidents in the coastal areas of Tubod and Baroy were discussed during the courtesy visit of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 10 (BFAR-10), led by Regional Director Edward Yasay, to ๐†๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐จ๐ซ ๐Œ๐จ๐ก๐š๐ฆ๐š๐ ๐Š๐ก๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐. ๐ƒ๐ข๐ฆ๐š๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐จ on May 26, 2026.

BFAR-10 presented the results of water quality analysis conducted following reports of water discoloration and mortality of wild fish species in the affected coastal areas.

Based on the findings discussed during the meeting, the probable cause of bangus mortality was identified as a combination of harmful algal bloom (HAB), water discoloration, and critically low dissolved oxygen (DO) levels in fish pen areas, with possible overcrowding in fish pens also considered as a contributing factor.

BFAR-10 reported that weekly water sampling and monitoring activities are ongoing as part of efforts to closely assess the condition of the affected coastal areas and help address the situation.
