2026 Week 16 Filipino Value Focus: FAITH

Picture
A father commissioned his daughter with what others consider an impossible mission. The daughter, feeling incompetent and unskilled to do so, went ahead and completed her assignment anyway. Impossible as it may seem, the assignment was completed on time. When the daughter returned to her father, she asked, “Father, you knew from the very start that I did not have the right training and skills for the mission you sent me to do. Why did you send me anyway? To her surprise, her father replied, “I knew fully well that you were incompetent, unskilled, and young. However, I saw things in you that you could not see. I saw obedience and resilience beyond measure as you completed the mission. I have faith in you.”

Often, we doubt our ability to make a difference in our own sphere of influence. As a result, we leave the seemingly gigantic tasks to those whom we perceive as able and skilled. Then circumstances arise that show us that God can accomplish so much through our lives. Suddenly, our eyes open to the reality that we are not moving on our own, but as God directs us. Then we realize that we are meant not only for ordinary things but also for greatness.

“Look to the rock from which you were cut and the quarry from which you were dug.” Our identity is not based on what we can do or even on what we can acquire. “Our background does not even determine our foreground.” Who we are depends on whose DNA flows through our blood. Our identity is based on the One we represent, the One we carry. We are not moving on our own. This is why we should not hesitate to take on any assignment given to us in our respective domains. “He who began a good work in us will bring it to completion.”

If we are chosen to carry a task, that means we are approved to function. The ones who chose us did not do so without reason. They must have seen who we are and what they can do through our lives. They have faith in us. They have faith in our generation. There is no accident in life. Everything happens for a reason. If God has chosen us, is there anything too difficult for Him to do through us? He created the heavens, the earth, and everything in them. He softened hard hearts and humbled proud heads. He set men as kings and brought down those in power. Is there anything he cannot do through our lives? The next time we are tempted to doubt, let’s remember—God has faith that we can do it!

ACTION PLAN

RESOLUTION

From this day forward, we will never doubt what God can accomplish through our lives.
Together with our families, we will always put God first in all our dealings.

In the field office, we will ensure that faith is strengthened in our daily tasks and in the activities we organize.
As citizens of the Philippines, we will live up to our identity as the only Christian nation in the region, not only in words but in deeds.

DECLARATION

We are a generation full of faith. We are aware that the God who elects is the God who makes all things beautiful in His time. With faith, we believe that transformation will happen in the Philippines. We see a nation overflowing with abundance in the natural and in the spirit. We are the new generation of leaders occupying strategic positions, the new breed of statesmen and stateswomen who will build and establish not for ourselves but for the next generation. So help us, God.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for allowing us to understand more about the value of faithfulness by revealing to us Your faithfulness. Empower us to see more and live by Your examples. We come against every temptation to become unfaithful. Keep us strong even in the midst of all the chaos, trials, and complications. Keep our eyes open, our minds clear, and our hearts pure to process all the situations challenging us to get out of our vows and covenants. These we ask in Your Name, Amen.

The Guidance and Counseling Services Office, through the Guidance and Counseling Unit of VSU Main Campus, successfully conducted the Psychological Testing for all first-year students of VSU Tolosa on March 10, 2026 (Tuesday) at the Gymnatorium.

This initiative is more than a requirement – it is a meaningful step to our students as they balance academic growth with their personal well-being.

We sincerely thank our faculty members and administration for their support, and most especially our students for their wholehearted participation.

This psychological testing will continue to be an annual activity in the coming years. Together, we reaffirm our commitment to holistic student development—because at VSU Tolosa, we believe that education is not only about learning in the classroom, but also about nurturing the heart, mind, and spirit.

2026 Week 9 Filipino Value Focus: COOPERATION

Cooperation means the members of a team have one heart. The heart is the most essential organ of the body, as it sustains life by pumping blood and supplying nutrients and oxygen to all other parts. In a team, the heart is the purpose for which the team is formed. The purpose determines the kind of members therein, including their qualifications and the characteristics they should possess. If the purpose is not established correctly, the team has no force. In the same way, if the purpose is not adequately birthed in the members’ hearts, their commitment to the team would not be substantial. On the contrary, if the purpose is adequately born, cooperation would not be difficult because the members, of their own volition, would supply their quota for the success of the team’s goal.

Cooperation in a team requires a shared voice. In the first EDSA revolution that impressed the whole world, the Filipino people had one voice. On the streets of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue, the Filipino people were shouting the same thing over and over again. A team with different voices is necessarily a weak team. With conflicting instructions or statements around, members won’t know who to follow or what to say anymore. Worst, members take sides on which voice to stand for. When that happens, the team is bound to break, for “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.”

Lastly, having a single vision leads to strong cooperation. Just as a traveler heads in a particular direction, the team is headed in a direction determined by its purpose and mandate. Members of a team seeing one thing from different perspectives can be a strength, but seeing different things can be dangerous. With eyes fixed in different directions, the team could be shattered. Getting the members to cooperate to reach the goal would be a serious challenge. Before it is too late, let us examine our team’s heart (purpose), voice (what we stand for), and vision (goal), and establish them accordingly. The secret to getting cooperation from every member lies in how these things are birthed in everyone’s hearts.

ACTION PLAN
As a member of a team, assess how you cooperate towards the attainment of your organization’s purpose, mandate, goals, and objectives. Make a list of the things you should stop doing, continue doing, and start doing.
As a team, assess every member’s cooperative character. Do not condemn those who have not yet developed the value, but guide them through a process to help them cooperate. Recognize every effort shown to cooperate. Make sure not to dismiss even the slightest effort to avoid discouragement.

DECLARATION
We collaborate to achieve our organization’s purpose and mandate. We speak what we stand for, and we choose to see the direction that our team wants to reach. We turn our backs on uncooperative attitudes and start to give our best to fulfill.

PRAYER
Lord, together we knit our lives to build the nation. Thank you for giving us one heart, one voice, and one vision for a better family, a better country, and a better generation. We ask for the grace to remain faithful to the purpose of our organization. Help us to speak one message with one voice, and allow our eyes to focus only on one vision. As you are faithful, help us to stay loyal to the full.

2026 Week 4 Filipino Value Focus: SPIRITUALITY

Spirituality is the condition of being spiritual rather than the performance or compliance of religious rites, ceremonies, rituals, or obligations. It was derived from the belief that we are created beings with three elements or aspects: body, soul, and spirit. The spirit forms part of a person's nature and eventually reflects their personality and lifestyle. The body disintegrates into the ground when buried, but the spirit remains alive.

In nature, the spirit can either be sinful or holy. It can be immoral when it is accustomed to sin, but it can be redeemed by repentance, internal cleansing, and believing in the power of God. Once redeemed, the person transits from the old life to a new one. It creates a genuine transformation in a person, which brings them back to their original nature – the very essence of God.

Without faith in God, a person remains in a sinful life due to frailty or vulnerability. On the other hand, if a person has faith in God and allows Him to rule and take over his/her life, he/she can achieve holiness and righteousness because his/her nature is continuously renewed and thereafter conforms to His likeness. This gives the person the capacity to resist all forms of temptation. Spirituality becomes the foundation for a holy life. It is essential to keep the renewed spirit strong to withstand anything that defiles our body and soul.

Most Filipinos believe in God. Even our Constitution implores His aid as provided in the Preamble. Thus, Filipinos are expected to live up to this and lead a holy or consecrated life. With spirituality at work, we can expect incorruptibility among public servants, as they will begin to lead a more disciplined life. Temptation in the corrupt system can be damaging, and only those with intense spirituality can endure and hold their ground to stand for what is upright. If our faith in God is strong, no matter how wicked the surroundings may be, we cannot be shaken because we know God is on our side and backing us up. Whatever evil schemes the wicked will plan, they will be thwarted and put to naught because God Himself will act.

With the foregoing discussion, there is a dire need for spirituality to be observed and practiced by every public servant. It is beyond being devoted to one's religion; it is being holy on the inside. It is not occasional but a lifestyle. It allows the Holy nature to prevail over our selfish ambitions and desires. Live by the spirit by yielding to His Word and feeding ourselves with His Words that give life. For if we live by the spirit, we will not gratify the sinful desires of the flesh.

ACTION PLAN
Learn to walk in the spirit starting this week. Pray without ceasing, wherever you are, in whatever manner you are used to. Commune with God always.

Set your goals to develop your spirituality. Have a reading plan to study God's Word and meditate on it day and night. Set aside time for recollection and retreat to seek what He desires for you and for the people around you.
Identify some ways you can bring glory and honor to God. Resolve to be thankful in everything, no matter how big or small the blessings are.

DECLARATION
We are spiritual men and women. We choose to live in the spirit so that we will not gratify the sinful desires of the flesh. Our minds are governed by the Spirit, which is life and peace. From this moment forward, we commit to walking in the spirit and developing our spirituality.

PRAYER
Lord, thank You for allowing us to realize that we are not just made of body and soul but also of spirit. Teach us how to live in the spirit and walk in the spirit. We ask for wisdom, knowledge, and understanding on how to increase our spirituality. Allow us to understand our purpose and how You want us to spend the rest of our days here on earth. In the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
