Not every ingredient needs an introduction. Some are already part of everyday food, just waiting to be seen differently.

In the Philippines, moringa, locally known as malunggay, has long been a staple in home cooking. Today, it is evolving beyond the kitchen, becoming a versatile ingredient in modern food applications. Naturally rich in vitamins and minerals, it is now used across powdered formats, beverages, bakery, and ready-to-mix products.

For buyers, Philippine moringa offers flexibility across categories and formats, supported by ongoing product development efforts and a steady, scalable supply.

As global demand continues to shift toward plant-based and ingredient-led innovation, moringa presents a practical option for product development, whether for everyday food, fortified products, or functional applications.

This is part of IFEX Philippines’ Tropical Flavors for the World, highlighting ingredients shaped by origin, use, and potential in global markets.

DTI Iloilo extends its warmest congratulations to Banwa Pens and its lead artisan, Mr. Arnel John "Nonoy" Vallejo, who was commissioned to craft the hand-turned ballpoint pens for the 48th ASEAN 2026 PH Summit!

Meticulously handcrafted in Iloilo City using carabao horn and madre de cacao wood, these pens represent the "quiet excellence" of our local artisans. First discovered through First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos’ Likha: project, Banwa Pens serves as a shining example of how Ilonggo craftsmanship belongs on the global stage.

We are incredibly proud to see the heart of Iloilo represented in the hands of regional leaders. Congratulations on this historic milestone!

As a DTI-assisted MSME, Banwa Pens continues to inspire our local creative community with its dedication to quality and Filipino identity.

𝐎𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋 𝐋𝐀𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 | 𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐏 𝐇𝐔𝐁 𝐋𝐀𝐌𝐁𝐔𝐍𝐀𝐎

Last April 29, 2026, the Municipality of Lambunao officially launched the OTOP Hub Lambunao located at the Ground Floor of the Lambunao Government Center, Brgy. Poblacion Ilaya.

As part of the Department of Trade and Industry’s One Town, One Product (OTOP) Program, the establishment of the hub serves as a milestone in promoting local products, empowering MSMEs, and strengthening the market presence of proudly local industries and entrepreneurs.

Notably, OTOP Hub Lambunao is recognized as the fifth officially launched OTOP Hub in the whole Province of Iloilo, following the established hubs in Iloilo City (2), Oton, and Alimodian. This milestone reflects the municipality’s commitment to inclusive economic growth, innovation, and sustainable livelihood opportunities for local communities.

The hub showcases a variety of locally made products that highlight the culture, craftsmanship, and entrepreneurial excellence of Lambunao and neighboring communities.

Congratulations to the LGU of Lambunao, DTI, partner agencies, and all local entrepreneurs for this meaningful achievement in advancing local economic development. ✨
