🇵🇭🎗️The EDSA People Power Revolution🎗️🇵🇭
FEBRUARY 25

On February 22-25, 1986, the Philippines witnessed a historic event that changed the course of its history—the EDSA People Power Revolution. Sparked by years of authoritarian rule, economic instability, and the assassination of Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr., the Filipino people united in a peaceful protest against the Marcos dictatorship. The assassination of Ninoy Aquino on August 21, 1983, ignited widespread protests and political unrest. On February 7, 1986, snap elections were held, marred by accusations of electoral fraud. On February 22, 1986, Defense Minister Juan Ponce Enrile and General Fidel Ramos withdrew their support from Marcos, leading to a standoff. By February 23-24, millions of Filipinos gathered along EDSA, bringing food, prayers, and flowers, showcasing the power of peaceful protest. On February 25, 1986, Ferdinand Marcos fled Malacañang, and Corazon Aquino was sworn in as the first female president of the Philippines.

This historic event was shaped by key figures who became icons of democracy and freedom. Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr.'s martyrdom became the symbol of resistance against oppression, while Corazon "Cory" Aquino, his widow, became the icon of democracy and was sworn in as President. Fidel V. Ramos and Juan Ponce Enrile played crucial roles by withdrawing their support from Marcos, igniting the People Power movement. Jaime Cardinal Sin rallied the faithful to support the protesters, emphasizing nonviolence. Evelio Javier, a former governor of Antique, was assassinated on February 11, 1986, for his opposition to the Marcos regime, further fueling the people's clamor for change.

The EDSA People Power Revolution showed the world the power of nonviolent resistance, restoring democracy in the Philippines and inspiring other nations to fight for freedom and justice. As we commemorate this historic event, let us remember the courage and unity that shaped our nation. The spirit of EDSA is not merely about the past—it is about the continuous fight for justice, democracy, and truth.

As the 2025 elections approach, may we honor the legacy of those who fought for our freedom by making informed choices and safeguarding our democracy. Let the EDSA spirit live on in each of us.🎗️🩷

Enero 26, 2025 - Ang Sangguniang Kabataan Municipal Federation (SKMF) sang Tobias Fornier nagpasa sang resolusyon nga nagahingyo sa lokal nga panguluhan sang lugar para sa ila opisina.

Paagi sa amo nga resolusyon, ginpaabot sang SK Federation ang ila pangabay sa opisina ni Mayor Toto Ernesto Tajanlangit III agud may establisado sila nga lugar para sa mga administrative nga buluhaton.

Ini nga opisina magabulig sa pagpaayo sang ila serbisyo para sa mga pamatan-on kag bilang sangka ex-officio sa ila Barangay.

Ang dya mga kopya sang resolusyon nabaton sang Local Youth Development Officer, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), kag Mayor’s Office para sa mas maayo nga aksyon.
