PNP PRE-LEC Activity: Empowering Pottery Makers Through Education and Partnership
On September 8, 2026, personnel of the Tiwi Municipal Police Station conducted a Pre-Lecture (PRE-LEC) Activity among the pottery-making community of Barangay Putsan, Tiwi, Albay, recognizing the vital role of local artisans in preserving the municipality’s rich cultural heritage and sustaining their livelihood.
The activity aimed to educate and prepare community members through the dissemination of essential information on public safety, security, and government advocacy programs. Topics discussed included crime prevention, anti-illegal drugs awareness, road safety, disaster preparedness, public safety measures, and other relevant laws and policies designed to promote a secure, peaceful, and productive environment for the pottery-making community.
As part of the engagement, PNP personnel were given the unique opportunity to experience the traditional art of pottery-making firsthand. Guided by skilled local artisans, they learned the intricate process of molding and shaping clay into pottery, fostering a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship, dedication, and cultural significance of the industry that has long been a source of pride for Tiwi.
The activity also provided a platform for meaningful dialogue between the police and community members, encouraging active participation, cooperation, and vigilance in maintaining peace and order. Through open communication and mutual understanding, participants were empowered to become partners in promoting safety, security, and community development.
This initiative reflects the PNP’s commitment to people-centered and inclusive community engagement, balancing public safety efforts with support for local industries and cultural preservation. By strengthening partnerships with stakeholders and recognizing the value of local traditions, the PNP continues to foster unity, awareness, resilience, and shared responsibility in building a safer and more progressive community.
