Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan.
Tibiao, Antique – Tibiaonons gathered at the Municipal Auditorium earlier this morning to commemorate the 128th Philippine Independence Day.
Kalayaan
The Philippine flag waved proudly as it was hoisted and unfurled for the 128th year, the first having been raised by General Emilio F. Aguinaldo in Kawit, Cavite, following the country's declaration of independence from Spanish colonial rule.
Kinabukasan
When the Philippine Revolution broke out in 1896 under the leadership of G*t Andres Bonifacio, the revolutionaries did not think only of themselves but also of the generations to come—Filipinos who would live free from the control of foreign powers and govern the nation according to their own aspirations.
Kasaysayan
Thousands of our ancestors fought for freedom—from resisting Spanish rule, to defending the country in the trenches of Bataan and Corregidor, and even standing against dictatorship during the People Power Revolution in 1986.
Our municipality has many stories to tell. From its sons and daughters who answered the call for freedom to the modern heroes who continue to safeguard the sovereignty of our nation, Tibiao has played a significant role in building this country.
Hence, in honor of those who came before us, Tibiaonons from different sectors gathered to pay tribute to our fallen heroes and to recognize the brave Filipinos of today.
Today, the tri-colored banner adorned with the sun and stars soared above Tibiao. Even in the municipality's most remote areas, the national flag was raised and the national anthem was sung, marking the 13th consecutive year of this meaningful observance.
It has long been a tradition for the Local Chief Executive of the municipality to celebrate the nation's Independence Day on Seco Island.
As we continue to strive for progress, let us be reminded of our history—not only to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past, but also to continue serving our fellow Filipinos with love, compassion, and patriotism.
Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!
Maligayang Araw ng Kalayaan, Pilipinas Kong Mahal.
