🤓🤓🤓 DA - Quezon Agricultural Research and Experiment Station (QARES) once again conducts a community pantry. This time, we're bringing the pantry to the school! 🤓🤓🤓

Through “ACCELERATING GREEN GROWTH – Relay Farming for Sustainable Vegetable Production in Quezon Province: A GALING PCAARRD KONTRA KRISIS (GPKK) Project,” QARES is bringing the fruits of our labor to the sectors affected by the energy & climate crises. By adopting relay farming techniques for organic vegetable production, we are not only giving immediate food supply to the students but also showcasing our technology's potential to do good.

The community pantry also makes way for our youth to discover QARES – our agricultural products, public services, and innovative technologies. Enhancing food security and also creating opportunities for local communities with knowledge transfer.

We would like to give thanks to Senior High School Coordinator Ma'am Aileen Salcedo, Senior Coordinator for Learner Support Sir Junjun Bojilador, Principal Jessie V. Vasquez, and the SHS advisers of RECTO MEMORIAL NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL for coordinating this week's community pantry.

DA-QARES Champions Green Growth Through GPKK

DA–Quezon Agricultural Research and Experiment Station (QARES) continues to support resilient communities and promote sustainable agriculture towards a more food-secure and inclusive future. For the third time, the station held a community pantry. This time, public utility drivers passing by the station were given vegetables and native chicken eggs.

As part of the project titled “ACCELERATING GREEN GROWTH – Relay Farming for Sustainable Vegetable Production in Quezon Province: A GALING PCAARRD KONTRA KRISIS (GPKK) Project,” sectors affected by increasing fuel prices and operational costs are poised to be target beneficiaries.

A dedicated production area for vegetable and produce also functions as the demo farm for agricultural technologies implemented in DA-QARES. These technologies will be taught to beneficiary farmers for the following activities of the project.

The first and second distribution of vegetables were given to our walk-in clients of the station whom are farmers, students, and mothers. The community pantry is expected to be expanded to more town centers near the station.

Impromptu Visit of DA RFO 4A Officials at QARES and APCO Quezon
August 25, 2026 | QARES

The Quezon Agricultural Research and Experiment Station (QARES) and APCO Quezon was honored to welcome a quick surprise visit from our Regional Executive Director Engr. Redelliza A. Gruezo, together with RAED Chief Engr. C.P. Ariola and PMED staff Ms. Regine Denayco.

The visit provided an opportunity for the officials to personally inspect the APCO and station’s current needs, facilities, and ongoing infrastructure projects. The team also assessed areas requiring improvement and discussed necessary interventions to further support APCO Quezon and QARES operations and its programs and services.

Despite being an unannounced visit, the APCO Quezon and QARES team was grateful for the presence and guidance of the Regional Office officials. Their visit reflects the continuing commitment of the DA RFO 4A management to ensure that facilities and resources are responsive to the needs of the station, its personnel, and the farmers and stakeholders it serves.

APCO Quezon and QARES appreciates the time, support, and valuable insights shared by RED Engr. Redelliza A. Gruezo, RAED Chief Engr. C.P. Ariola, and Ms. Regine of PMED. Their visit serves as an encouragement for the APCO and QARES team to continuously improve its facilities, strengthen its programs, and remain committed to delivering quality agricultural research and extension services.

🎉 Congratulations to our On-the-Job (OJT) Trainees from Polytechnic University of the Philippines - Lopez Campus! 🎓🌾

These two summer internship trainees from the BS Biology track exemplified professionalism and excellence throughout their work at the Livestock Unit. On August 24 2026, the Quezon Agricultural Research and Experiment Station (QARES) successfully conducted the Viva Voce and Appreciation Ceremony. The trainees have successfully presented their experiences and knowledge gained throughout the 250-hour On-the-Job Training (OJT) Program.

We commend the trainees for their hard work and perseverance and extend our sincere appreciation to the faculty and administration of PUP - Lopez Campus for their continued partnership in developing competent and service-oriented agriculture graduates.

🎉 Congratulations to the 16 On-the-Job Trainees from Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) – Infanta Campus! 🎓🌾

On July 8, 2026, the Quezon Agricultural Research and Experiment Station (QARES) successfully conducted the Viva Voce and Appreciation Ceremony, celebrating the successful completion of the trainees' 250-hour On-the-Job Training (OJT) Program held from May 25 to July 8, 2026.

Over the course of their internship, the trainees immersed themselves in hands-on agricultural research, production, and extension activities, strengthening their technical knowledge and practical skills in the following units:

🌱 Plant Propagation
🐖 Swine Production
💉 Swine Semen Processing and Artificial Insemination (AI)
🐓 Native Chicken Production
🌽 Corn Production
🐛 Black Soldier Fly (BSF) Rearing
🌿 Organic Input Production

Throughout the training, the students demonstrated exceptional dedication, professionalism, discipline, and a genuine passion for learning. They actively participated in station operations, embraced new challenges with enthusiasm, and consistently carried out their assigned responsibilities with diligence and accountability. Their ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team reflected their readiness to contribute to the agricultural sector.

The Viva Voce served as an opportunity for the trainees to present and reflect on the knowledge, skills, and experiences they gained throughout their internship. It also highlighted the importance of experiential learning in preparing future agricultural professionals.

We commend all 16 trainees for their hard work and perseverance and extend our sincere appreciation to the faculty and administration of SLSU–Infanta Campus for their continued partnership in developing competent and service-oriented agriculture graduates.

Benchmarking is ongoing for our new project funded by DOST PCAARRD under the GALÌNG-PCAARRD Kontra Krisis (GPKK) Program. The technical team has coordinated with three LGUs to assess the applicability of the project and understanding of activities and targets to be initiated.

Project Evaluation and Data Gathering Visit | July 15, 2026

Today, the Quezon Agricultural Research and Experiment Station (QARES) welcomed the project team from the UPLB Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics (DAAE) of the UPLB College of Economics and Management for a data gathering and interview in support of the study titled:

"Performance and Sustainability Evaluation of the National Livestock Program's Stock Farm Upgrading and Livestock Economic Enterprise Development (LEED) Models."

The activity aims to assess the performance and sustainability of the National Livestock Program through the review of farm records, production data, program implementation, and interviews with key personnel. This initiative will help generate valuable recommendations to further strengthen livestock development programs and ensure their long-term impact on farming communities.

DA-QARES is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this important undertaking and remain committed to supporting evidence-based research for a more sustainable and resilient livestock sector.

June 30, 2026 at the📍QARES Conference Hall:

A biogas project collaboration between DOST CALABARZON and DA-Calabarzon goes into full swing! To start with the implementation, the Biogas Training for Department of Agriculture 4A was conducted; instructed with the expertise of DOST's biogas consultant Fernando E. Ablaza. Personnel from the Regional Agricultural Engineering Division (RAED) and QARES Livestock Unit were instructed on proper specification, construction, and maintenance of the planned biogas unit to be constructed at the station.

The program was emceed by Engr. Maria Isabel B. Bilbao and opened by Ms. Marjorie L. Sepina, OIC - Chief of DA-QARES, expressing her warm gratitude for the project. Chief Sepina emphasized the importance of integrating circular economy in the animal industry.

Following the site inspection and lecture, Engr. Paul Dominic Sevilla presented the preliminary design of the biogas plant. The exchange of information among the project team led to significant developments in the design and procedure of construction.

To close the training, Ms. Diana Rose A. Abas hoped for the continued partnership between the agencies to promote sustainable and progressive technology.
