Police service demands strength, discipline, alertness, and commitment. Yet behind every uniform is a person who also experiences pressure, fatigue, stress, and the need to recover. The seminar served as a reminder that rest is not a sign of weakness, but an essential part of staying strong, focused, and capable of serving others.
The discussion emphasized that wellness is more than simply being physically fit. It also means caring for oneโs mental, emotional, social, and personal well-being. Personnel were encouraged to recognize the value of slowing down when necessary, getting enough rest, managing stress, spending meaningful time with family, and creating healthy routines that allow the mind and body to recover from the demands of daily duty.
In a profession where personnel are often expected to remain ready at all times, it is equally important to remember that we cannot continuously give our best when we are physically exhausted, mentally drained, or emotionally overwhelmed. Taking time to pause, recharge, and restore oneโs energy helps build greater resilience, clearer judgment, stronger relationships, and a healthier outlook in life.
The activity further highlighted that caring for oneself does not lessen oneโs commitment to duty. Rather, proper rest and wellness strengthen a personโs ability to perform, lead, decide, and serve with compassion and purpose. A well-rested mind responds better. A healthy body performs better. And a balanced life creates stronger and more resilient personnel.
Through the 7Fs Work-Life Alignment Program, Pangasinan 2nd PMFC continues to recognize that the welfare of its personnel is an important foundation of effective public service. By promoting wellness and encouraging personnel to value rest as much as productivity, the Unit reinforces a culture were taking care of oneself is understood as part of taking care of others, because in the end, even the strongest need rest, even the most dedicated need time to recharge, and even those who protect others must also learn to protect their own well-being.
