𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗗𝗔𝗬 | Four years ago, Republic Act No. 11914 or the Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO) Act was signed into law, marking a significant step in strengthening the delivery of science, technology, and innovation programs and services across the provinces of the Philippines.

‎In Central Luzon, the seven PSTOs in Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Zambales continue to bring S&T closer to communities by supporting local industries, assisting micro, small, and medium enterprises, providing technology-based solutions, and working with partners to address local needs.

The 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 (𝐃𝐎𝐒𝐓), 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 (𝐃𝐀𝐑), 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 (𝐃𝐓𝐈), 𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐚𝐜 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 (𝐓𝐒𝐔), 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐆𝐔 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐥 successfully formalized their partnership through the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing for the 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺-𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗩𝗟𝗙𝗘𝗗) 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁.

The activity reaffirmed the shared commitment of the partner agencies to empower Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) by enhancing their enterprise capabilities, improving product development, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities. Through this collaborative initiative, the agencies strengthened their partnership in promoting inclusive economic growth and supporting the development of resilient farming communities in the Province of Tarlac.

The Department of Science and Technology remains committed to working with partner institutions in delivering science, technology, and innovation-driven interventions that contribute to sustainable community and enterprise development.

𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬: 𝐓𝟐𝐏 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐒𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐈-𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐆 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐚𝐜 🎋

As the country prepares for the forecasted very strong El Niño, science and technology continue to play an important role in helping farmers adapt to changing weather conditions.

On July 28, 2026, DOST-Central Luzon participated in the annual Technology to People (T2P) Media Conference organized by the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD). The activity brought together media partners for a field visit to various science and technology initiatives in Tarlac, giving them a firsthand look at innovations that support climate-resilient agriculture.

A major highlight of the visit was the installation and demonstration of the Project SARAI Automatic Weather Station (AWS) at the Rise and Rebuild International Foundation in Brgy. San Manuel, Tarlac City. Installed through SARAI Central Luzon, the AWS provides real-time weather data that helps farmers make informed decisions on irrigation, crop management, pest monitoring, and drought preparedness.

During the demonstration, Prof. Moises A. Dorado, Project Leader of the SARAI CeNTRO Regional Hubs, explained how the AWS collects localized weather information and converts it into practical and easy-to-understand advisories for farmers.

Ms. Patricia Espinosa, Vice President of the Rise and Rebuild International Foundation Tarlac Site, shared how access to accurate weather forecasts can help avoid unnecessary irrigation, improve farm operations, and contribute to better food production for the children under their care.

The activity also featured the SINAG (Smarter Innovation for Agriculture) online platform, which provides digital agriculture and weather-related services. Other DOST-supported technologies, including the Automated Furrow Irrigation System (AFIS) and Nutrio® Biofertilizer under the iCRADLE Program, were also presented during the media conference.

The event was attended by DOST Undersecretary for Research and Development Usec. Leah J. Buendia, DOST-PCAARRD Executive Director Dr. Reynaldo V. Ebora, Deputy Executive Director for Research and Development Dr. Juanito T. Batalon, DOST Central Luzon Regional Director Dr. Julius Caesar V. Sicat, Provincial S&T Director Ms. Karen Y. Dañez, Provincial Agriculturist Mr. Noel Regis, Tarlac City Agriculture Office, technology developers, media partners, farmers, and other stakeholders.

The T2P Media Conference served as a platform for media practitioners to witness how DOST technologies are being applied in local communities. Through Project SARAI and other science-based innovations, DOST continues to support farmers with timely information and practical technologies for climate-resilient and sustainable agriculture.
