The Land Transportation Office – Negros Island Region (LTO-NIR) headed by 𝑢𝑰π‘ͺ π‘Ήπ’†π’ˆπ’Šπ’π’π’‚π’ π‘«π’Šπ’“π’†π’„π’•π’π’“ 𝑴𝒓. π‘±π’†π’„π’Œ 𝑫. π‘ͺ𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒖, has issued a show-cause order to the operator of a modernized jeepney that went viral on social media for allegedly overloading passengers outside Panaad Park and Stadium in Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod City.

The incident, recorded on 27 January 2026, shows a jeepney on the Alijis-Central Market route exceeding its authorized passenger capacity. The video also captures a heated exchange between the conductor and a concerned passenger, raising questions on passenger safety and courtesy.

The LTO-NIR directs the operator and the conductor to appear at its regional office in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City within five (5) days to submit a verified written explanation. Failure to comply will result in the Office proceeding with administrative action, including possible fines, suspension, or other sanctions as warranted by law.

LTO-NIR reminds all public utility vehicle operators and personnel that passenger safety, lawful operation, and proper service are non-negotiable.
