On January 27โ28, 2026 NCIP personnel, with the support of Municipal Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR), conducted an Information, Education, and Campaign (IEC) activity in Barangay Agpalali, Tapaz, Capiz for the Council of Elders of Panay Bukidnon (ICCs/IPs).
The activity aimed to provide accurate, clear, and sufficient information on NCIP Administrative Order No. 1, Series of 2021, particularly in relation to the formulation of local IPMR guidelines, in accordance with established customary practices and local protocols. Discussions focused on the relevant policies and procedures governing the mandatory representation of Indigenous Peoples in local legislative councils and policy- Making bodies, as well as the roles and responsibilities of key stakeholders.
In addition, brief health information was discussed, including blood pressure screening for the participants as part of basic health awareness. During the IEC, emphasis was given to the rights of ICCs/IPs, the importance of customary decision-making processes, and the need for informed and meaningful participation of the community in governance mechanisms. The Council of Elders actively participated by raising questions, sharing insights, and clarifying concerns, which contributed to a deeper understanding of the guidelines and their proper implementation.
