LOOK | DTI-Capiz, EMB, and the Office of Congressman Guinto initiate the first-ever Usapang Exports event in the province
Seventy-five (75) micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across Capiz attend the inaugural โUsapang Exportsโ forum today, 15 August 2025, at the Espacio Verde Resort, Roxas City.
Speaking before the plenary, Capiz 1st District Congressman Ivan Howard A. Guinto, who initiated the event, expressed his gratitude to DTI-Capiz and its Export Marketing Bureau (EMB) for the partnership.
In his message of support, the good Congressman affirmed Capizโs potential in exports. โThe potential for export in our province is immense. As your District Representative, one of my priorities is to help you maximize this potential by bringing in more partners to guide you in elevating your products for the global market. This will not only create more livelihoods and jobs for our fellow Capiznons, but also position our province as a recognized source of quality products,โ he said, underscoring the critical role of stakeholders and their collective efforts to harness Capizโs full potential to stand at par with other provinces, eventually becoming an export-driven economy.
DTI-VI OIC-Regional Director Ma. Dinda R. Tamayo, on the other hand, highlighted the Capiznon-MSME participants, who, in her words, braced up and have counted themselves today. "This is the start of your journey - the pivotal move to be interested and foster the desire to conquer the world," she said during her keynote speech.
To achieve that vision, it is imperative to confront the critical obstacles that beset Capiz MSMEs, including access to technological facilities, productivity and efficiency, high capitalization, and stringent regulatory requirements.
Suraida U. G**o, Chief Trade-Industry Development Specialist at DTI-EMB, gave a presentation on the Bureau's services and programs, export policies, and the requirements for export-oriented enterprises (EOEs) to receive a certification under Republic Act 12066, also known as the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises to Maximize Opportunities for Reinvigorating the Economy (CREATE MORE). Additionally, Carl Francis Nichole E. Garing and Jocivic F. Bertillo, Trade-Industry Development Specialists, discussed the global market trends and prospects for the booming Capiz industries of handicrafts, alcoholic beverages, fisheries, and cacao. Moreover, Gotyme Bank Western Visayas Operations Manager Jemar Elen presented their loan facilities for MSMEs.
To further support participants, DTI-Capiz established on-site MSME booths offering direct services, including export and business consulting provided by the Office of Congressman Guinto, business name registration and renewal, Small Business Corporation loan processing for MSMEs, and IPAK packaging solutions. DTI-Capiz OIC-PD Merian A. Asas, reiterated the organization's dedication to assisting MSMEs in terms of market access, product development, and capacity-building programs.
In her closing message, PD Asas assured Capiz MSMEs of DTIโs unfaltering commitment to enabling businesses in the province of Capiz.
