🛡️ KASANGGA SA KAPAYAPAAN: Successful Completion of 1st Batch Tanod Training! 🛡️

On June 24–25, 2025, the Liga ng mga Barangay – Tapaz Chapter, in partnership with DILG Tapaz, successfully conducted the 1st batch of the Kasangga sa Kapayapaan: Barangay Tanod Training held at the Tapaz Civic Center.

This two-day capacity-building activity aimed to equip our Barangay Tanods with essential knowledge and skills in maintaining peace and order, implementing legal procedures such as citizen’s arrest and search and seizure, understanding key laws including RA 9262 and RA 7610, applying self-defense and arrest techniques, responding to disasters, administering basic first aid and CPR, firefighting, and managing traffic and crowd control.

Participants included Punong Barangays, Sangguniang Barangay Members chairing the Committee on Peace and Order, and six (6) Barangay Tanods per barangay. The first batch was composed of participants from the barangays of Apero, Carida, Cristina, Daan Banwa, Gebio-an, Initan, Katipunan, Lagdungan, Malitbog, San Roque, Switch, and Wright.

Resource speakers were representatives from DILG Capiz, PNP Tapaz, BFP Tapaz, the 12th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, and Arnis Grand Master Rolando Bural, who all generously shared their time and expertise to ensure a meaningful and impactful learning experience for our local frontliners.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all facilitators, speakers, and participants for their active engagement and unwavering commitment to building a safer, stronger, and more resilient Tapaz. Stay tuned for the upcoming batches of this continuing initiative. 💪

Barangay Camburanan will represent Region VI as the 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝘆—a recognition of its outstanding performance in promoting peace, order, and justice through the Katarungang Pambarangay system.

Congratulations to Brgy. San Francisco, Tapaz, Capiz for being the Regional Winner of the 2023 Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA) in the 1st to 3rd Class Municipalities Category.

The award was personally received by Punong Barangay/Lupon Chairperson Helen Casasola, along with the Lupon Secretary and Lupon Members of San Francisco. The award ceremony took place at Festive Walk Mall Activity Center in Iloilo City. Also in attendance during the event were MLGOO Vito K. Navarra and LGOO II Marnie G. Silva.

The Municipality of Tapaz, together with DILG Tapaz Field Office, spearheaded the conduct of Serbisyo Caravan on August 25, 2023, at Don Leopoldo Gialogo Integrated School, Barangay Gebio-An, Tapaz Capiz. The nearby barangays of Garcia, Malitbog, San Miguel Ilaya, San Miguel Ilawod, Roosevelt, and Taft also benefitted the said Serbisyo Caravan.

The Serbisyo Caravan aims to effectively deliver basic government services to the residents of the said barangays, especially of Brgy Gebio-an, considering Gebio-an’s case of absence of barangay and SK officials due to the mass resignation of the said Officials last January 10, 2022. Likewise, as one of the target barangays for 2023 RCSP.

Almost 700 residents of the said barangays availed of the services offered by the participating local and national agencies: DILG Region VI, DILG Capiz, 602nd Coy, RMFB6, 2nd Capiz PMFC, Tapaz MPS, BFP Tapaz, 12IB, Philippine Army, DENR CENRO, SSS, University of Perpetual Help- Pueblo De Panay, MHO, MSWDO, MENRO, MAO, MCR, Municipal Assessor's Office, and Municipal Treasurer's Office.

The Municipal Health Office of Tapaz, together with PNP, Philippine Army, Luz L. Abordaje, DMD, Katrina Angela E. Say, D.M.D and University Of Perpetual Help- Pueblo De Panay spearheaded the Medical and Dental Mission, Bloodletting Activity, Operation Tuli and Libreng Gupit.

On the other hand, DILG Capiz provided supplies to the temporary tanods of the barangay such as ballcaps, flashlights, uniforms, tumblers, water heater, biscuits, and coffee. The DENR CENRO distributed also 1500 fruit-bearing trees to households. Tapaz Municipal Police Station distributed school supplies to Grade 1 students, had free ukay-ukay, and disseminated an online police clearance process.

Among other services rendered were assistance from SSS about SSS online services; registration and validation of senior citizens, PWDs, and solo parents, youth profiling of OSY of the MSWDO; assistance from Municipal Agriculture's Office on anti-rabies vaccination, animal health consultation, rice/corn technical assistance, RSBSA/PCA/PCIC Registration; assistance from Municipal Civil Registrar on registration of birth certificates, PSA authentication of birth certificate, death certificate, and marriage certificate; assistance form Municipal Assessor's Office on the assessment of undeclared title or without tax declaration; and information dissemination from MENRO, MTO on programs on Solid Waste Management, Business Tax, and Real Property Tax.

𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗶𝘀𝘆𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯

In photos| The Municipality of Tapaz conducted Serbisyo Caravan at the Multi-purpose gym of Brgy. Katipunan, Tapaz, Capiz on March 29, 2023, as part of its continuous efforts to bring government services closer to the people to attain inclusive and sustainable peace under Executive Order 70, institutionalizing the Whole-of-Nation Approach to end the local communist armed conflict (ELCAC).

It was participated by the Six (6) FY 2021 RCSP Barangays: Barangays Acuña, Aglinab, Katipunan, Lahug, Roosevelt and Tacayan plus barangays Gebio-an, Libertad, San Miguel Ilaya, and Wright.

Health programs, including medical and dental check-ups, eye check-ups, consultation, circumcisions, and bloodletting activity, were carried out by the medical, dental, and technical volunteers from the Municipal Health Office, NCIP, Red Cross, and 602nd Company, RMFB6, and 12th IB, Philippine Army, benefitting hundreds of residents who also received prescription medicines, vitamins, and dental kits for children.On the other hand, the local government of Tapaz provided food packs to 250 families and slippers and snacks for Katipunan Elementary School.

Among other services rendered was assistance to student permit and driver's license application by the LTO, consultation and updating of PhilHealth records, distribution of land titles to the nine (9) beneficiaries by the PENRO, and distribution of 500 seedlings from MENRO and 2nd CPMFC.

Other offices that participated in the activity were the Office of the Municipal Agriculture, MSWDO, DSWD VI, Municipal Civil Registrar, TESDA, Municipal Assessor, DAR, Tapaz Municipal Police Station, and BFP Tapaz.

𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿-𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗬 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮 𝗟𝗚𝗦𝗙-𝗦𝗕𝗗𝗣

Captured earlier today is the inter-agency meeting of DILG Capiz with selected members of the Municipal Task Force ELCAC on the implementation of FY 2022 Local Government Support Fund - Support to the Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP).

For FY 2022 six (6) barangays of Tapaz (barangays Acuña, Aglinab, Katipunan, Lahug, Roosevelt and Tacayan) were awarded with P4,000,000 each under the SBDP to finance infrastructure projects identified by the barangays i.e. farm-to-market roads.
