Thousands of people gathered at the New San Nicolas De Tolentino Cathedral of the Diocese of Tandag to pay their last respects to the Action Man of the Province of Surigao del Sur, late Governor Vicente “BB” T. Pimentel, Jr. At around 8:00 o’clock in the morning, the remains of Gov. Pimentel were carried from Pimentel’s Mansion to the Provincial Capitol before they were transported to the New Tandag City Cathedral.

The funeral mass was concelebrated by several priests from local dioceses in the Province of Surigao del Sur. After the concelebrated mass, the Pimentel family and several dignitaries from the government were all in tears as Carrascal Mayor VJ Pimentel eulogized the late Governor.

The remains of Gov. Pimentel were in a casket traveling on a hearse, as thousands of people said farewell and spilled out of the Cathedral onto the streets to show their love and support for the late Gov. Vicente Pimentel, Jr.

Everyone kept their eyes on the funeral hearse as his coffin passed through the streets, and as the convoy inched its way forward until it reached the Tandag City Memorial Garden.

The interment took place at the Memorial Garden at around 11:45 am and everyone couldn’t help but cry their eyes out during the interment of Gov. Pimentel’s remains.
Gov. Vicente Pimentel, Jr. started his political career as Barangay Captain in the ‘70s, and served as Mayor of Carrascal from 1992 to 2001. He became Governor of the Province of Surigao del Sur from 2001 to 2010 and was re-elected as Mayor of Carrascal from 2010 to 2016. From 2016 to present, he served as the Provincial Governor of Surigao del Sur.

Gov. Pimentel was tagged as the “Action Man” because he was always willing to pour all his blood, sweat and tears to serve the people of Surigao del Sur.

The remains of late Governor Vicente “BB” T. Pimentel, Jr. have arrived at Tandag City Airport on December 30, 2018 at around 5 o’clock in the afternoon. Several high-ranking dignitaries from the government and the family of our late governor gathered at the airport to receive his remains.

His casket was then brought to Pimentel’s Mansion, Brgy. Saca, Carrascal, Surigao del Sur for the offering of mass and public viewing. Locals patiently waited and raised their white flaglets during the arrival honors. Everyone was also welcome to pay their last respects to the late governor.

On the first night of late governor Pimentel’s wake, the people of Carrascal showed their love and support and condoled with the family and friends of our late governor. Everyone was also given the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the late Gov. Pimentel before the offering of mass officially started.

On January 1, 2019, the remains of late Governor Vicente “BB” T. Pimentel, Jr. was transferred to Tandag City and the offering of mass and public viewing will be held in the city until January 6, 2019.

The Provincial Development Council (PDC) conducted its 4th Quarter Provincial Development Full Council Meeting and Christmas Party last December 12, 2018 at Villa Maria Luisa Hotel, Tandag City, Surigao del Sur.

The event was graced with the presence of none other than Governor Vicente "BB" T. Pimentel, Jr., Provincial Administrator Efren E. Rivas, Jr., SP Member Henrich M. Pimentel and all city/municipal mayors in the whole province of Surigao del Sur.

As the Chairman of the Provincial Development Council, Gov. Vicente "BB" T. Pimentel, Jr. expressed his fervent hope that all members of the PDC will continue to optimize all their resources in pursuit of sustainable peace and development in the province.

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), together with the Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur and all partner agencies, celebrated the OFW Family Day last December 08, 2018 at Tandag City Gymnasium, Tandag City, Surigao del Sur in recognition of the sacrifices made by the Overseas Filipino Workers as well as their contribution in uplifting and keeping our economy vibrant amidst challenges and prolonged separation from their loved ones.

The event was graced with the presence of none other than Senator Cynthia A. Villar, Gov. Vicente “BB” T. Pimentel, Jr., 1st District Representative Prospero A. Pichay, Jr., 2nd District Representative Johnny T. Pimentel, and Tandag City Mayor Ayek T. Pimentel.

In order to strengthen the partnership between and among the PNP, the civil society and all partner agencies and stakeholders involved, the Advisory Council of the CARAGA Region conducted its 2nd Regional Advisory Council Summit 2018 last November 28, 2018 at Villa Maria Luisa Hotel, Tandag City, Surigao del Sur.

The summit was graced with the presence of none other than Judge Emmanuel E. Escatron, Chairman of RAC 13 and other members of the Regional Advisory Council. Governor Vicente "BB" T. Pimentel, Jr. was also present during the event and stressed that the gov't can help formulate effective strategies and carry out all its advocacy programs when all sectors of the community work collectively in providing solutions to a number of problems in the whole community.

Provincial Administrator Efren Rivas led the Bench-marking for the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) together with the other delegates from the Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur.

The said delegates took a site visit at the "HAPPY HOME" - Half-way House & Processing Center located in Mati City, Davao Oriental. As the only fully established halfway house in the Philippines to date, the Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur aims to emulate the brilliant and successful ideas or initiatives made by the Provincial Government of Davao Oriental.
