The Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur, through the GAD Focal Point System (GFPS), chaired by Hon. Governor Johnny T. Pimentel, has spearheaded the first grand GAD training intended for all Elected Local Officials, all Department Heads, all Assistant Department Heads, GFPS TWG, GAD Review Team headed by Ms. Carolina R. Tidalgo, EnP., and the GAD Secretariat/Focal Person-Designate, Ms. Elesia D. Salazar, PDO III, and all other members of the GFPS as an active response to the GAD Mandate to all agencies of the local government units.

On behalf of the GFPS Chairperson, Governor Pimentel, SP Member Margarita Garay, as Chairperson of the Sanggunian Committees on Women, Children, and Family, has delivered a welcome message before the GFPS members of this province.

The GST was successfully conducted by the Resource Persons from the DILG Provincial Office: Ms. Ma. Lourdes C. Martinez, LGOO VII-Outcome Manager, and Ms. Doreen Marielle N. Rosales, Information Officer II from the Commission on Human Rights, Caraga Region 13, Butuan City.
While Atty. Allen M. Gasulas, Deputy City Prosecutor, City Prosecutorโs Office, has exceptionally shared her expertise and insights in the GAD-Related laws, such as RA 11930 OSAEC-CSAEM, also known as Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials, RA 11313 Safe Spaces Act or Anti-Bastos Law vs. RA 7877 Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995, and the CSC Rules on Sexual Harassment.

A total of 82 participants have successfully attended GENDER SENSITIVITY TRAINING (GST-101), whereby one of the Chiefs of District Hospital, who shared positive reflections that it was the first GAD capacity building they had attended. They are looking forward to another GAD-related training, among others, to further enhance their Gender and Development capacities that would be beneficial to their respective agencies and patients-clients in terms of the delivery of a gender-responsive health service.
