Ensuring Operational Readiness: 3rd Howitzer Platoon of 5FAB’s Charlie Battery Conducts Registration and Proficiency Firing at Masbate

TANAY, Rizal – The 3rd Howitzer Platoon, Charlie Battery, 5th Field Artillery Battalion, Artillery Regiment, Philippine Army, under the leadership of CPT JOSIL A SARCIA (ART) PA, successfully conducted Registration and Proficiency Firing as part of its Field Artillery Gunnery Proficiency Training (FAGPT) from 29 to 30 May 2026 in the vicinity of Headquarters 2IB, 9ID, PA at Brgy Panicijan, Uson, Masbate.

Under the direct supervision of LTC CHRISTIAN O AGONOS ART (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of 5FAB, the 3rd Howitzer Platoon successfully conducted the live fire exercise which demonstrated the unit’s precision and tactical proficiency in delivering timely and effective indirect fire support. The said exercise also featured the active participation of the 2nd Infantry Battalion, 9ID, PA whose personnel acted as Forward Observers (FO), demonstrating both units' seamless coordination under simulated combat conditions.

The presence of COL ANGELO Z LUTERA INF (MNSA) PA, Commander, 903rd Brigade, 9ID, PA highlighted the strong partnership between the 5FAB and its supported units. In his message, COL LUTERA reaffirmed his support for the unit’s ongoing efforts in capability enhancement, emphasizing the importance of operational readiness in maintaining peace and development across the province of Masbate.

This initiative reflects the unit’s commitment in ensuring highly capable Howitzer firing units manned by highly skilled personnel who exhibit confidence and competence in performing their mission at any given time.

Strengthening Readiness: 5FAB Culminates Disaster Response Operations Training

TANAY, Rizal – As part of the unit's continuous capability development program, the 5th Field Artillery Battalion, under the leadership of LTC CHRISTIAN O AGONOS ART (GSC) PA, formally concluded its Disaster Response Operations Training through a Closing Ceremony with LTC MARIA JOSEFINA G SAN JUAN-TORRES PA (MNSA) (RES), Presiding Judge, RTC Branch 79, Morong, Rizal, as the Guest of Honor and Speaker held today at the Battalion Headquarters.

Conducted every weekend, the training featured a series of comprehensive lectures and practical exercises participated in by both the unit’s organic personnel and artillery reservists from the 1st Rizal Ready Reserve Field Artillery Battery. These training activities equipped the participants with essential disaster response competencies, ensuring continuous enhancement of the unit’s capabilities and operational readiness.

The successful completion of said training, coupled with the integration of the artillery reservists, highlighted 5FAB's commitment to developing capable and mission-ready personnel who can effectively support disaster response efforts and serve as reliable force multipliers in times of crisis, further reinforcing its role in promoting readiness and resilience.

5FAB Strengthens Disaster Response Capability through Water Survival and Rescue Training

TANAY, Rizal – As part of its continuing Disaster Response Operations Training, the 5th Field Artillery Battalion, under the leadership of LTC CHRISTIAN O AGONOS ART (GSC) PA, conducted Water Survival and Rescue, today, at the Jungle Fighter Team Building Facility and Resort in Camp Capinpin, Brgy Sampaloc, Tanay, Rizal.

The training, which was facilitated by Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from the 1st Rizal Ready Reserve Field Artillery Battery, featured comprehensive lectures and practical exercises designed to equip the personnel with essential knowledge and hands-on skills on water safety, survival techniques, and proper response during flooding and other water-induced incidents.

Through the conduct of said training, 5FAB reaffirmed its commitment to developing competent and disaster-responsive active and reserve artillerymen who are capable of effectively supporting humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations in times of calamities and emergencies.

5FAB Demonstrates Strength and Endurance in 1st Semi-Annual Physical Fitness Test 2026

CAMP CAPINPIN, Tanay — The personnel from Headquarters 5th Field Artillery Battalion under the leadership of LTC CHRISTIAN O AGONOS ART (GSC) PA, successfully completed the 1st Semi-Annual Physical Fitness Test (PFT) facilitated by the personnel of 14th Installation Management Battalion, IMCOM, PA today at Camp Gen. Mateo Capinpin, Tanay, Rizal.

The said physical test, consisting of three (3) events: 2-minute push-up, 2-minute sit-up, and 3.2km run, is a standard assessment of a soldier’s physical strength, endurance, and cardiovascular health to ensure they are physically fit to perform their duties efficiently.

The regular administration of the PFT reinforces individual discipline, mental fortitude, and physical fitness while contributing significantly to the unit’s combat readiness and operational effectiveness.
