The Tanauan School of Fisheries was established on June 16, 1957, by virtue of Republic Act No. 1559 as a district and separate vocational school under the direct supervision and administration of the Bureau of Public Schools, and then Bureau of Vocational Education. rnment agencies after the declaration of Martial Law, the Bureau of Vocational Education was revamped so that all Secondary Schools, General High Schools or Vocational High Schools were under the Bureau of Secondary Education. This school is charged by law with the administration and supervision which carries its purposes of giving secondary vocational education to the youth around the vicinity of Ambulong, and various places within the province of Batangas, The Tanauan School of Fisheries was first situated at the old chapel of the barrio, then moved to its present site consisting of 5¾ hectares elevated land 10 meters away from the national road, 200 meters from the beach of Taal Lake and with scenic background of Taal Volcano. The school was opened on June 16, 1958, one year after it was established. It started with 30 students coming from Ambulong and other nearby places with only nine personnel. The rooms were not sufficient for its students, so, the first-year classes of two sections were held in the barrio chapel. As the school progresses more buildings and equipment were acquired. Teachers and personnel were accommodated as student population increases. In 1975, the 3-year Technical Course in Fisheries Curriculum was offered. In view of this offering, a five-room technical building was erected to house the technical students. This time it was under the supervision of Bureau of Technical and Vocational Education. In 1994, trifocal education system refocused into the Commission on Higher Education, the Department of Education, and the Technical Skills and Development Authority (TESDA). In 1995, the school was supervised by TESDA. Then, in 1997 the supervision of the school was transferred to Department of Education, However, the gradual phasing out of technical course was until 2000. In the year 2002, the school fully implemented the Basic Education Curriculum up to year 2005. To enrich the Technology and Livelihood Education Program, the school adopted the Redesigned Technical-Vocational High School Program into adherence to Department Order No. 37, series of 2005 until school year 2007-2008, school year 2008-2009 the school adapted the Secondary Technical Vocational Educational Program (STVEP). The school is supervised by a vocational school administrator and is assisted by six department heads. At present, there are 103 Teaching and Non-Teaching Personnel which is composed of 75 secondary school teachers, 4 department heads and 24 administrative and special services personnel.
