📌Talacognon Pride on the Rise

A true pride of Talacogon, Agusan del Sur, Rene Clert "Bobet" Baterbonia is a former Governor’s Cup basketball player of the Municipality of Talacogon and now proudly wears Jersey #2 for the DAVRAA Eagles in the recently concluded Palaro Tu Agsur 2026.

Prior to his departure for Luzon to continue his studies, Bobet paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Pauline Marie R. Masendo, RN at her office. The Mayor warmly received him and extended her support and well wishes as he begins on this new chapter of his journey.

Usec. Malcolm S. Garma clarified the fire incident in Talacogon, and explained that athletes occupying the table tennis venue were immediately evacuated after authorities were informed of the situation.

Authorities Assure Public Safety Following Fire Incident at the Gymnasium of Talacogon Agusan del Sur

Based on the official statement of the Municipal Information Office of Talacogon, Agusan del Sur, the fire incident at Talacogon Gymnasium, Brgy. San Agustin, Talacogon, Agusan del Sur, was immediately responded and has subsequently been declared fire out and now under control.

Investigation disclosed that the fire originated from extreme ambient heat, which caused an air conditioning unit to overheat that led to the melting of wiring and circuit breakers which ignited the fire. No casualty, injury, or fatality was reported.

The affected area was limited only to the storage room outside the main gymnasium, which covered approximately 9 square meters only, while the interior portion remained safe and unaffected.

The resumption of games will be announced once venue assessment and safety inspections are completed.

The Local Government Units of Agusan del Sur, PNP, BFP, AFP, and other concerned agencies assure the public of the safety and security of all playing venues, billeting areas, and other places of engagement, as continuous monitoring and comprehensive security measures are being undertaken.

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT‼️

The Local Government Unit of Talacogon, together with the Bureau of Fire Protection – Talacogon would like to inform the public that the fire incident which occurred at the Talacogon Gymnasium, Purok Flor Deliz, Brgy. San Agustin, Talacogon, Agusan del Sur at around 12:25 PM today has already been placed under control and officially declared fire out. The incident may have been caused by the extremely high heat index currently being experienced in the area.

Fortunately, there were no casualties, injuries, or fatalities reported.

WE WOULD LIKE TO EMPHASIZE THAT THE MINOR AFFECTED AREA WAS ONLY LIMITED TO THE STORAGE ROOM LOCATED OUTSIDE THE MAIN GYMNASIUM. THE INTERIOR OR INSIDE PORTION OF THE GYM WAS NOT AFFECTED BY THE INCIDENT AND REMAINS SAFE.

The affected area covered approximately 9 square meters only.

In view of the incident and for the safety of all participants, officials, and spectators, the scheduled Table Tennis games for today are hereby temporarily suspended until further notice.
Resumption of the games will be announced once the venue assessment and safety inspection are completed.

We assure everyone that the situation is now under control and authorities are continuously monitoring the area to ensure public safety.
