INTEGRATED FLOOD RESILIENCE AND ADAPTATION PROJECT I

To the members of the ADB Board of Directors,

I warmly welcome you to Tagum City, the capital of our beautiful province of Davao del Norte.

The Bisaya word for this place is โ€œnindot,โ€ which means beautiful or good. And I am sure that describes Davao well: beautiful in what we already have, but even more exciting in what we can still build.

The Integrated Flood Resilience and Adaptation Project โ€” specifically the Tagum-Libuganon River Basin component โ€” is not a line item in our development plan but rather, It is the development plan itself. The US$98 million contract awarded this March for flood-control infrastructure represents one of the most significant climate-resilience investments ever undertaken in our province.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Asian Development Bank for making this transformative investment possible for our people.

Daghang salamat for being here with us, and once again, welcome to Davao del Norte.
