As part of its continuous efforts to promote animal welfare and public safety, the City of Taguig, through the Office of the City Veterinarian (OCV), conducted a comprehensive Pet Caravan in Barangay Wawa on Wednesday, October 21.
The city's veterinary team conducted health examinations for 137 companion animals of pet owners across Wawa, Bambang, and Tuktukan, and provided preventive medical careโincluding deworming treatments and vitamin supplementationโto 91 pets.
To support local rabies eradication and ensure traceability, the team administered anti-rabies vaccinations to 83 animals and implanted identification microchips in 19 pets. Additionally, 114 free spay and neuter operations were performed to manage the local animal population humanely.
An on-site mobile pharmacy supplied essential medications and wellness vitamins directly to 57 pet owners to support post-caravan treatment.
In his message, Vice Mayor Arvin Ian Alit emphasized the value of the initiative.
"Ang Pet Caravan po na ito ay isa lamang sa magandang programa ng ating pamahalaang lungsod sa pangunguna po, of course, ni Mayor Lani Cayetano. At sana po, pahalagahan ninyo ang programang ito.โ
"Hindi po lahat ng lungsod may ganitong klaseng kagandang programa. Nakapaloob ang iba't ibang serbisyo, kung kailangan po ng alaga nating hayopโaso, pusa manโlibre po 'yan," he added.
The Pet Caravan is a reflection of the city's commitment to bringing accessible public health and animal welfare services directly to the barangays.
