From Manila to London: the Philippines stepped into the spotlight at London Tech Week 2026, held in June.

For the first time, the Philippines showcased at Olympia London, bringing its vibrant tech ecosystem to one of the world’s biggest stages for innovation.

We were pleased to welcome DOST Secretary Renato Solidum Jr., underscoring the country’s strong commitment to science, technology, and deeper UK–Philippines collaboration.

A further £10 million of UK funding over the next three years will support the Pacific Resilience Facility to deliver locally led solutions that respond to climate change across the Pacific.

Speaking at the Pacific Islands Forum in Palau today, UK Minister for Indo-Pacific Rosie Winterton announced this support for the PRF, a key ask from Pacific leaders and communities.

What if leftovers from every rice harvest could help power a more sustainable future? 🌾

The UK and the Philippines are partnering to unlock new opportunities for farmers in Iloilo through an innovative collaboration between the Iloilo Provincial Government, the Municipality of Pototan, and UK company Straw Innovations.

Together, they are showcasing how rice straw, often treated as agricultural waste, can be transformed into valuable products such as compost, biochar and renewable energy feedstocks, helping farmers get more value from every harvest.

This partnership aims to:

✅ Reduce post-harvest losses
✅ Improve farm productivity
✅ Create new income opportunities
✅ Support climate-resilient agriculture

Bringing together UK and Philippines expertise, innovation and local leadership, this collaboration is helping build stronger, more resilient farming communities across Iloilo while supporting more sustainable agricultural practices.
