Partnering for Secure Energy Supplies ⚡

The British Embassy Manila, in collaboration with Niras, the Royal Danish Embassy Manila, Scanis, the Global Wind Energy Council, HSBC, and the Nordic Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines, successfully convened the 4th Wind Energy Forum on 26 May 2026 in Manila.

With the theme “Sustaining Power: Leveraging Philippine Resources for a Renewable Future,” the forum brought together over 130 stakeholders—from renewable energy practitioners and developers to financial institutions such as UK Export Finance, civil society, and diplomatic partners.

Discussions explored how to advance the Philippines’ clean energy transition, including offshore wind development, policy updates, financing solutions, infrastructure needs, and how social inclusivity and community engagement are key for a successful transition.

Partnership is essential to work toward a more sustainable energy future.

🇬🇧🇵🇭 The UK–Philippines partnership continues to grow stronger—from the ground to what we observe from space.

For Patrick Joseph “PJ” Robles, a Filipino Chevening Scholar at the University of Edinburgh, studying Earth Observation and Geoinformation Management has been both a professional and personal journey of discovery.

At Edinburgh, PJ is exploring how satellite technologies can deepen our understanding of the Earth’s unseen systems, learning alongside peers from around the world and gaining new perspectives shaped by diverse experiences.

In the Philippines, PJ serves as a Hydrographic and Geomagnetic Survey Officer at NAMRIA, contributing to the data that guides navigation across the country. Through Chevening, he is building on this work—integrating ground-based expertise with satellite-driven insights to strengthen how we study and navigate our environment.

Beyond academics, PJ’s journey has been enriched by meaningful moments—from hikes up Arthur’s Seat to friendships spanning continents.

As he looks ahead, PJ hopes to bring home not only new technical knowledge, but also a renewed purpose in advancing the Philippines’ role in geospatial science.

Through Chevening, new perspectives help chart the way forward.
