𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 𝐔𝐏! ☝️ 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄’𝐒 𝐀 𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐎𝐍 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐊𝐘. ☁️

Clouds, rain, wind, sunshine — our weather is constantly changing, but how much do we really know about what causes it? 🤔

Inside the nuLab bus, 𝗠𝘀. 𝗝𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗻 took students from 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗼 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹, 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗶, 𝗜𝗻𝗰., and 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗶 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 on a closer look at the 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿. Through the session, students explored basic 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗼𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝘀 and learned how scientists 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.

They were also introduced to the 𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧-𝗣𝗔𝗚𝗔𝗦𝗔 𝘄𝗲𝗯𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲, where they can access weather forecasts and other information to help them keep track of what’s happening in the atmosphere.

Weather science gives students 𝗮 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘆. By learning to observe weather patterns and use reliable information, they gain 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱, 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 about the world around them.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐲? 👀

Students of 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗼 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 and 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗶, 𝗜𝗻𝗰. got a colorful introduction to 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗿𝘆. Guided by 𝗠𝘀. 𝗝𝗮𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗘𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗼𝘇𝗮, they carefully followed the procedure, observed color changes, and analyzed their results as they explored how colorimetry can be applied in 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆. Along the way, they strengthened their skills in observation, data recording, and interpretation — essential practices when identifying potential hazards and making informed decisions in the laboratory.

More than just observing changes in color, the activity encouraged students to recognize the importance of 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸. In STEM, knowing how to conduct an experiment is only part of the process; understanding the results, recognizing possible risks, and making responsible decisions are equally important. Through hands-on learning, students were able to see how scientific knowledge can translate into 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 in the laboratory and beyond.

STEM isn't always black and white. Sometimes, a little color can help students see the science in a whole new light. 🌈🔬

The journey continues as 𝗻𝘂𝗟𝗮𝗯 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗠 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 brings its hands-on STEM learning experience to the 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 from 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟬 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟵, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

Along the way, learners will get to explore 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆, 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 (𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆), 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀, 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 (𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆), 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀, and 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 through hands-on and interactive learning experiences facilitated by our local scientists, STEM advocates, and educators. 🧪💻🛜🔬📐🌦️

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | Today, 𝗻𝘂𝗟𝗮𝗯: 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗠 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 was invited by the 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸, together with representatives from the 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, for a productive discussion on potential collaborations and innovative approaches to accessible STEM learning in the country.

The meeting provided an opportunity for nuLab to share its experience as a mobile learning platform that brings interactive and immersive STEM education closer to Filipino learners and communities. Discussions also explored the nuLab bus design, learning environment, and implementation approach as part of ongoing conversations on future-ready and community-centered educational initiatives.

As an initiative of the 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 – 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲, nuLab continues to champion engaging STEM learning experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity, and innovation among students across the Philippines.

In February, in celebration of the 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, the DOST Science Education Institute, through its mobile laboratory nuLab: STEM in Motion, brought hands-on STEM learning to students in Quezon City. Led by Filipina scientists, the sessions highlighted the importance of women’s participation in science and inspired the next generation of Filipino innovators.

The nuLab bus recently brought STEM learning to Ifugao, where students and teachers joined us for hands-on activities and plenty of curious questions.

𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘁𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗲 𝗚𝗼. Through hands-on observation and discussion in 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆, they examined how minerals form, how different rocks reveal Earth’s dynamic past, and how fossils unlock clues about life that existed millions of years ago.

Studying minerals, rocks, and fossils is more than uncovering the past - it’s 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱.
