Philippine Active Geodetic Network - PAGeNet

Philippine Active Geodetic Network - PAGeNet Data from the network may be used in a wide array of applications such as surveying, mapping, navigation, crustal deformation studies, and meteorology.

The Philippine Active Geodetic Network (PageNET) is a network of permanently-installed, continuously operating geodetic reference stations that utilize signals from Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) to provide real-time, high-precision geographic position data to users via the Internet. The PageNET is an important component of NAMRIA's strategic plan to modernize the national geodetic sys

tem by year 2020. It provides a continuous link to the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF) and is one of the Agency's contributions to the development of a sustainable global geodetic reference frame called for by the United Nations General Assembly through Resolution No. 69/266 of 26 February 2015 (A Global Geodetic Reference Frame for Sustainable Development).

NAMRIA and PHIVOLCS working together to support rebuilding efforts and study the impacts of the 30 Sep 2025 M6.9 Offshore Northern Cebu Earthquake.

NAMRIA deployed BRP Hydrographer Ventura to update the nautical chart around Polambato Port and vicinities, a crucial step to ensure safety of navigation of vessels bringing vital supplies to the city.

The source of the earthquake was traced to a previously unmapped offshore fault. PHIVOLCS has already mapped the onland extension of the Bogo Bay Fault. NAMRIA's hydrographic survey was a good opportunity for PHIVOLCS to also study the offshore segment of the fault.

PAGeNet's PBOG Active Geodetic Station (AGS) provided vital reference station data to improve the accuracy of the survey. Data from the station, including that of other nearby AGS, were also shared with PHIVOLCS to support their work.

PAGeNet Bulletin 2025-10-03

Subject: Displacements from the Mw 6.9 Offshore Northern Cebu Earthquake (30 Sep 2025)

The Mw 6.9 earthquake that hit Cebu and surrounding provinces last 30 September 2025 (09:59 PM PhST) has induced a significant displacement in one of PAGeNetโ€™s active geodetic stations in the area.

PBOG (Bogo City), located approximately 19 kms southwest (SW) from the earthquakeโ€™s epicenter, recorded a ~0.71 m 2D displacement northeast (NE) from its previous dayโ€™s position. No significant anomaly is observed in the Up component of the station position.

While no apparent offset was observed in the daily positions of other PAGeNet stations in the vicinity of the epicenter, the stationsโ€™ Velocity and Displacement Engine (VADASE) streams recorded a spike around the time the earthquake struck.

NAMRIA continues to monitor the stations to provide updated information to all concerned.
