Tagudin MDRRMO leads the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill

The Tagudin Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, under the pro-active leadership of Mayor Roque S. Verzosa, Jr., through the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office headed by LDRRM Officer Engr. Michael B. Padayao, successfully conducted the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) today at San Pedro Community School, Barangay Dardarat, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur.

This activity aimed to strengthen local disaster preparedness and enhance the community’s capacity to respond effectively to earthquake scenarios. The drill was participated in by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Barangay Tanods of Brgy. Dardarat, and the faculty, staff, and learners of San Pedro Community School.

A key component of this drill was raising awareness among learners, who are among the most vulnerable during disasters. Through hands-on participation in the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” procedure and guided evacuation drills, students gained essential knowledge and experience in how to respond calmly and safely in the event of an earthquake.

These preparedness activities are vital in building a culture of safety and resilience among the youth. By equipping learners with practical skills and awareness, we help ensure that they are not only prepared to protect themselves, but are also capable of contributing to community safety during emergencies.

The Local Government Unit of Tagudin, through the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, remains steadfast in its commitment to strengthening disaster risk reduction initiatives and ensuring that all sectors of the community—especially the youth—are informed, prepared, and resilient.

TAGUDIN MDRRMO CONDUCTS PRUNING OPERATIONS IN BARANGAYS RANGET AND BIMMANGA

As part of the ongoing disaster prevention and preparedness initiatives, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Tagudin conducted tree pruning operations in key areas of the municipality.

On June 05, 2025, the MDRRMO Operations Team responded to a reported dried tree located in Barangay Ranget, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur. The tree posed a potential hazard to a nearby residential structure and was identified as a risk factor during inclement weather or strong winds. The pruning was carried out to eliminate the danger it posed to lives and property.

In addition to this, pruning activities were also conducted along the National Highway in Barangay Bimmanga, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur. This proactive measure was aimed at maintaining road safety, reducing the risk of accidents, and ensuring unimpeded visibility and access for motorists and pedestrians.

These efforts are part of the municipality’s commitment to promoting public safety, enhancing community resilience, and minimizing potential hazards before they lead to emergencies.

The Local Government of Tagudin, through the MDRRMO, remains steadfast in its dedication to risk reduction, ensuring that preventive actions are continuously implemented across all barangays.

30/05/2025

Manatiling handa at ligtas. Ang inyong kaligtasan ay aming pangunahing layunin.
