Wheelchairs from the Rotary Club provide new mobility to 50 beneficiaries

Fifty individuals with mobility challenges received wheelchairs during the Wheelchair Turnover Program held on May 29, 2026, at the Tacurong City Cultural and Sports Center.

The activity benefited 36 recipients from Tacurong City and 14 from Lambayong through the joint efforts of the Rotary Club of Gingoog Bay, Rotary Club of Tacurong, Rotaract Club of Talakudong, Wheelchair Foundation, Chair the Love, and the City Government of Tacurong.

The program opened with welcome remarks from Rtn. Eduardo Duque Jr., Rotary Club of Tacurong President, followed by an overview of the activity by AG Natividad Bullecer. Beneficiaries and their caregivers also received a wheelchair usage and safety demonstration from Rtn. Louie James Jaminal.

In her message of support, Mayor Lina O. Montilla thanked the Rotary organizations and partner groups for their commitment to helping communities. She also expressed the City Government's full support for Rotary's humanitarian initiatives and affirmed that Tacurong City will always be a partner in endeavors that improve the lives of its people.

The identification of beneficiaries from Tacurong City was facilitated by the Persons with Disability Affairs Office Focal Person, Juvy Lazado, while several slots were also allocated for beneficiaries endorsed by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

The activity concluded closing remarks from AG Jose Marie Espiritu, signing of acceptance and the official turnover of the wheelchairs. The Rotary Club also committed to providing additional wheelchairs this year, allowing more individuals to benefit from the initiative.

Various offices of the City Government of Tacurong joined the Brigada Eskwela 2026 by conducting school clean-up, repair, and maintenance activities at public schools across the city.

Brigada Eskwela is a nationwide initiative that brings together government agencies, community partners, volunteers, and stakeholders to prepare schools for the opening of classes and ensure a safe, clean, and conducive learning environment for learners.

In addition to providing volunteer services, some city government offices also donated school supplies for students and teaching materials for teachers as support to their needs for the upcoming school year.

The activity began today and will continue until June 4, with teams deployed to cover all elementary and secondary public schools in Tacurong City.

The theme for this year's Brigada Eskwela is: "Bayanihan sa Paaralan: Nagkakaisa para sa Kaayusan at Kaalaman," focusing on school infrastructure improvement and strengthened literacy.

The Local Government Unit of Tacurong City conducted its regular Monday Flag Raising Ceremony today, June 1, 2026, in front of the City Hall main building. The activity was attended by city officials, LGU employees, men and women in uniform, and other public servants of the city.

During the ceremony, City Mayor Lina O. Montilla, PhD officially introduced the new Chief of Police of Tacurong City, PLTCOL NESTOR M MADERSE. In his short message, PLTCOL MADERSE expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and assured the public of his commitment to maintaining peace, order, and public safety in the city. He also called for unity and cooperation among the community, local officials, and law enforcement authorities in promoting a safer and more progressive Tacurong.

Mayor Montilla also announced the upcoming Brigada Eskwela activities, where LGU employees will be assigned to different schools in the city to help prepare classrooms and school facilities for the opening of classes. She encouraged everyone to actively participate and support the program.

Meanwhile, Marlow Anthony Buenacosa, Health Education and Promotions Officer, gave an advisory regarding the increasing cases of dengue brought about by the rainy season. He shared important reminders on dengue prevention and encouraged everyone to support the “Search and Destroy” campaign to be conducted in every barangay on June 3. He also promoted the importance of maintaining a healthy workplace among employees.

In addition, CENRO Acting Head Ceasar Banusing, EnP, announced the celebration of the Philippine Environment Month this June. He presented the series of activities lined up for the month, highlighting the upcoming Katungal Creek Clean-Up Drive as one of the major environmental initiatives of the city.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), in partnership with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the City Government of Tacurong, successfully conducted the orientation and contract signing for beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program on June 1, 2026, at the City Cultural and Sports Center.

A total of 1,632 qualified beneficiaries from various barangays across Tacurong City attended the activity, marking an important step in the implementation of the government's emergency employment program aimed at providing temporary livelihood opportunities for disadvantaged and displaced workers.

Ms. Vanessa Gay D. Ramo, a representative of DOLE, discussed the objectives of the TUPAD Program, the responsibilities of beneficiaries, work guidelines, occupational safety and health standards, and the benefits they are entitled to receive upon the completion of their designated work assignments.

Under the program, each beneficiary will receive ₱9,200 upon the successful completion of the prescribed work period and compliance with all program requirements.

City Mayor Lina O. Montilla, Ph.D., together with members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, attended the activity to assist and personally express their gratitude to DOLE for the initiative. Mayor Montilla emphasized that the assistance provided through the TUPAD Program will greatly benefit the beneficiaries, particularly in helping them meet the educational needs of their children as the new school year approaches.

The TUPAD Program serves as a vital intervention that not only provides temporary income support but also contributes to community development through various short-term work activities.

City Hall sa Barangay goes to Barangay Calean

City Mayor Lina O. Montilla, PhD brought the services of Dalangpan sang Katilingban City Hall sa Barangay 2.0 in Barangay Calean Gymnasium today, May 28, 2026.

The delegation of the city government served dozens of constituents who availed of free medical and dental services, free medicines, free veterinary and agricultural services, free haircut, and other programs and offerings from all the offices of the LGU.

Joining the LGU employees were other volunteers especially doctors and other health professionals.
