Football Tournament kicks off at Talakudong Sports Festival 2026

The football tournament of the Talakudong Sports Festival 2026 officially got underway today, September 5, 2026 at Tacurong Pilot Elementary School, with participating teams taking the field for the start of the competition.

The opening program brought together football players, coaches, technical officials, and guests as the teams prepared for the matches ahead.

Elmer B. Felongco, EnP, MDMG, Statistician III of the City Youth Development Office and Officer-in-Charge, delivered the welcome address.

Players and technical officials took their respective oaths before City Mayor Lina O. Montilla, PhD, represented by her Private Secretary Noel Padernal, officially declared the tournament open.

Padernal also delivered the Mayor’s inspirational message, encouraging the players to compete with discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

The opening ceremony was followed by the first set of football matches, officially marking the start of the tournament.

The football competition is among the sporting activities lined up for the Talakudong Sports Festival 2026, which brings together athletes from different areas for various sports events.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒: Tacurong LGU holds first Friday Mass for September

The City Government of Tacurong, led by City Mayor Lina O. Montilla, PhD, held its First Friday Mass on September 4, 2026, at the City Hall lobby.

The Holy Mass, officiated by Rev. Fr. Ezalde D. Panaguiton, DCC, was attended by department heads and other public servants. Sponsored by the Human Resource Management Department, the Holy Mass served as an opportunity for the local government workforce to gather in prayer and give thanks.

A special blessing was also given to employees celebrating their birthdays in September, with prayers for good health, guidance, and continued blessings.

Ang haze na ito ay maaring magdulot ng ubo, hirap sa paghinga, paninikip ng dibdib, at iba pa.

Dahil dito, hinihikayat ang lahat na magsuot ng face mask, magsarado ng mga bintana at pintuan, o manatili sa loob ng bahay kung maaari.

Para sa dagdag na impormasyon, basahin lamang ang kalakip na post sa ibaba.

Dahil sa hanging Habagat, umabot na sa ilang bahagi ng Luzon at Visayas ang usok mula sa forest fires sa Kalimantan, Indonesia.

Maaaring magdulot ang haze ng hirap sa paghinga, pag-ubo, pananakit ng dibdib, pangangati o pagluluha ng mga mata, at paglala ng mga sakit sa baga tulad ng hika. Dobleng pag-iingat ang kailangan para sa mga bata, matatanda, at mga may dati nang sakit sa baga o puso.

Habang nagpapatuloy ang banta ng haze, mag-suot ng mask kung lalabas ng bahay. Alamin ang lagay ng hangin sa inyong lugar at unahin ang kaligtasan. Maging handa sa banta ng Haze!

Tacurong CPOC, CADAC conduct joint 3rd qtr meeting

Tacurong City—The City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) and City Anti-Drug Abuse Council ( CADAC) of Tacurong City jointly held their 3rd quarter meeting at the 3rd floor Conference Room of the New Executive Building, City Hall Compound.

Leading the attendees was City Mayor Lina O. Montilla, PhD, chairperson of both councils.

Accomplishments and operational updates were given by the Tacurong City Police Station (TCPS), Joint Task Force Talakudong, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Tacurong City Fire Station, Tacurong City District Jail- Male & Female Dormitories, the City Prosecutor’s Office, and Public Attorney’s Office among others.

The TCPS also reported on the security plans for the upcoming celebration of Talakudong Festival on September 14-18, 2026.

To close, the members passed several resolutions, one of which recommends to the legislative council the updating of the open-pipe ordinance of the city.

Pursuant to Ordinance No. 067 of the 10th Sangguniang Panlungsod, Quezon Avenue—from the junction of Alunan Highway to the junction of Doña Aurora Street—will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic from August 29 to September 20, 2026.

The temporary road closure is intended to accommodate the Agricultural and Trade Fairs and Flea Market as part of the celebration of the 26th Cityhood Anniversary and Talakudong Festival.

Upper Katungal vies for national Lupong Tagapamayapa award

Barangay Upper Katungal underwent the National On-Site Validation for the 2026 Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA) on Sept. 1, 2026 marking another milestone in its bid for the country’s highest recognition in barangay justice.

The validation was led by the National Board of Judges (NBOJ) in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), with officials from the provincial, city and barangay governments joining the assessment.

Opening the program, City Mayor Lina O. Montilla, PhD welcomed the validators and lauded the members of the Lupong Tagapamayapa for their continued commitment to resolving conflicts peacefully at the community level.

A message from DILG XII Regional Director Atty. Rochelle D. Mahinay-Sero, CESO III, delivered by Assistant Regional Director Engr. Samuel Camaganacan, underscored the significance of recognizing barangays that uphold effective dispute resolution and promote lasting peace among residents.

Punong Barangay Joey P. Columbres, who also chairs the Lupon, introduced the members of the Lupong Tagapamayapa before the NBOJ Secretariat presented the validation guidelines.

Representing Sultan Kudarat Governor Datu Pax Ali S. Mangudadatu, Ian Jordan Abalos likewise expressed support for the barangay, emphasizing the Lupon’s vital role in maintaining peace and order through the Katarungang Pambarangay system.

The validation included the presentation of Barangay Upper Katungal’s accomplishments through an audio-visual report, followed by an on-site review of its records, programs and best practices.

The Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards is a national program that recognizes barangays for outstanding performance in delivering accessible, responsive and effective community-based justice.
