Brigada Eskwela 2026 Ignites the Spirit of Bayanihan as Tacurong Welcomes a New Educational Landmark

TACURONG CITY, June 1, 2026 – The Schools Division Office (SDO) of Tacurong City officially launched the 2026 Division Brigada Eskwela Kick-Off Program at Tacurong National High School–Extension, marking the start of a community-wide effort to prepare schools for the opening of School Year 2026–2027.

Anchored on the theme, “Bayanihan sa Paaralan: Nagkakaisa para sa Kaayusan at Kaalaman,” the event brought together representatives from the local government, barangay officials, community organizations, private and public institutions, and various education stakeholders, all united in their commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and learner-friendly school environments.

The host school, Tacurong National High School–Extension, under the leadership of School Principal Martin I. Diaz, is set to open its doors this School Year 2026–2027 to welcome its pioneering batch of Grade 7 learners. Situated on a three-hectare property acquired through the Special Education Fund (SEF), the new institution stands as a testament to the city’s continued investment in quality and accessible education.

The program commenced with a Holy Mass, setting a solemn and meaningful tone for the day’s activities.

The opening program was attended by distinguished guests, including Hon. Lina O. Montilla, City Mayor of Tacurong; Vice Mayor Atty. Ralen T. Bernardo; members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod; officials from the Barangay Local Government Units of Carmen and Kalandagan; representatives of the Retired Teachers Association; partner banks; and numerous stakeholders from both the public and private sectors.

One of the highlights of the kick-off program was the tree-planting activity, during which Narra tree seedlings were planted around the school grounds. The activity symbolized the stakeholders’ shared commitment not only to education but also to environmental stewardship, sustainability, and the creation of a greener learning environment for future generations.

In his message, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Gilbert B. Barrera underscored the importance of collective responsibility in advancing educational goals.

“Bayanihan must be a concern of all. Everyone must unite to achieve our goals for the benefit of our learners,” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, Mayor Lina O. Montilla reaffirmed the unwavering support of the City Government of Tacurong for the programs, projects, and initiatives of the Schools Division Office. She highlighted Brigada Eskwela as the embodiment of the Filipino spirit of bayanihan and a powerful reminder of what communities can accomplish when they work together.

“We pledge to take the necessary steps to safeguard, sustain, and support this new institution. The City Government of Tacurong stands ready to provide the resources, policies, and partnerships needed to protect what we build here today and to ensure that every learner who walks through these doors receives the quality education they rightfully deserve,” the Mayor stated.

The program culminated with the Signing of Commitment and Support, where stakeholders formally expressed their solidarity and dedication to advancing the goals of education in Tacurong City. This symbolic activity reflected the collective resolve of the community to work hand in hand in nurturing schools, empowering learners, and strengthening the future of education.

As Brigada Eskwela 2026 officially begins, the Schools Division Office of Tacurong City continues to champion the values of volunteerism, partnership, and shared responsibility - proving that when communities unite, schools become stronger, opportunities expand, and learners are better equipped to build a brighter future.
