A Magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck at 07:25 PM today (May 16, 2026) with an epicenter located 4 km North 69° West of General Salipada K. Pendatun, Maguindanao and a depth of 10 km. Reported and instrumental intensities were recorded across parts of SOCCSKSARGEN, including Sultan Kudarat.

The youth of Barangay Baras have spoken! Last May 1, 2026, at the Barangay Gymnasium, the Katipunan ng Kabataan successfully conducted the election of its new set of officers—marking a meaningful step toward empowering young leaders and strengthening youth participation in governance.

The elections were presided over by the Committee on Governance, headed by SK Member Hon. Carl Jayson B. Sierra, in the presence of SK Chairperson Hon. John Raynan P. Kilayco and all members of the Sangguniang Kabataan.

The program formally opened through the opening remarks delivered by SK Member 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗣. 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮, setting the tone for a meaningful and productive gathering of the youth sector. This was followed by the presentation of the Accomplishment Report and Financial Report by SK Member and Budget Monitoring Officer 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗹 𝗝𝗮𝘆𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗕. 𝗦𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮, highlighting the programs, projects, activities, and financial transparency of the SK Council.

Moreover, SK Chairperson and Provincial SK Federation President/ Ex-Officio Board Member 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗥𝗮𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗻 𝗣. 𝗞𝗶𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗰𝗼 presented the approved Comprehensive Barangay Youth Development Plan (CBYDP), Annual Barangay Youth Investment Program (ABYIP), and the Annual Budget for C.Y. 2026. An open forum was also conducted where the youth participants actively shared their suggestions and insights on future PPAs they wish to be implemented in the barangay.

The assembly concluded with heartfelt messages from the SK Officials, expressing their sincere gratitude to all the youth for their unwavering support and participation in the initiatives of the SK Council from 2023 up to the present, especially as the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections draw near.

A total of 𝟭𝟲𝟳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝘀 attended the said assembly and enjoyed a sumptuous snacks prepared by the SK Council after the program.
