The Department of Agrarian Reform- Provincial Office with the partnership in the Department of Science and Technology Region XII, through its Provincial Science and Technology Office in Sultan Kudarat.
The training featured combined hands-on workshops with in-depth lectures on basic food hygiene, food safety, and efficient processing techniques, led by Regional Training Coordinator Ms. Sapia S. Uka, Supervising SRS. The 30 Participants gained practical skills to ensure their products meet commercial standards, fostering confidence in their entrepreneurial potential. Additionally, Ms. Beatriz O. Bongcawel, Senior SRS, delivered an engaging session on designing visually appealing and regulatory-compliant product packaging and labeling. Her expert guidance enhanced participantsโ understanding of effective product design, emphasizing strategic branding to captivate consumers in local markets.
The training aligns with DOSTโs mission to drive innovation in agriculture and DARโs goal of uplifting agrarian reform beneficiaries. By transforming coconut sapal by product often discarded but can process into nutritious pretzels/biscuits, and crafting creamy coconut jam, the cooperative is tapping into sustainable practices that reduce waste and maximize resources.
This collaborative effort not only equips the D. Lotilla Farmers Agriculture Cooperative with skills to boost household incomes but also positions them as contributors to the provinceโs thriving agripreneurship landscape. With newfound expertise and market-ready products, the cooperative is poised to make a lasting impact on Sultan Kudaratโs economy while promoting sustainable coconut farming.
