The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) successfully conducted the Monthly Meeting of Day Care Workers, bringing together child development workers to discuss program updates, strengthen coordination, and enhance the delivery of early childhood care and development services.

The meeting served as a venue to review ongoing activities, address concerns and challenges, share best practices, and plan upcoming programs to ensure quality services for young children and their families.

Through continuous collaboration and capacity-building, the City remains committed to supporting its Child Development Workers in promoting the welfare and holistic development of every child in the community.

2nd Quarter 2026 Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC)

The City of Tacurong successfully conducted its 2nd Quarter LCPC Meeting, bringing together member agencies and stakeholders to discuss updates, strengthen collaboration, and review programs and initiatives that promote and protect the rights and welfare of children in the city.

The meeting also served as a venue to discuss legal bases, ongoing child protection programs, and strategies to further enhance the implementation of child-friendly policies and services in Tacurong City.

Through the continued commitment of partner agencies and the Local Government Unit, the City of Tacurong remains dedicated to ensuring a safe, nurturing, and child-friendly community for every child.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗮, 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗮! 𝗧𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗮𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆

TACURONG CITY, Sultan Kudarat — Parents, learners, teachers, tutors, and partner agencies gathered at the City Cultural and Sports Complex in Tacurong City for the successful Culminating Activity of the Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program, highlighting the importance of collaboration in strengthening literacy and learning among children.

The activity was attended by learners and parents from New Isabela Central Elementary School, Amado Fernandez Central Elementary School, Abang Suizo Integrated School, Pilot Elementary School, Manuel Griño Elementary School, Maria Montilla Elementary School, Upper Katungal Elementary School, J. Hector Elementary School, Kalandagan Elementary School, New Lagao Elementary School, Victoria P. Dasmariñas Elementary School, and Tina Elementary School.

The Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program is a flagship initiative that aims to improve the reading and literacy skills of struggling learners through community-based tutoring while empowering parents through Tatay-Nanay Parenting Sessions. The program is implemented through the partnership of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Education (DepEd), local government units, and higher education institutions.

In her message Mayor Inday Lina Ortizo Montilla , PhD, represented by Councilor Lalaine Jarrell Montilla , congratulated the parents and learners for successfully completing the 20-day parenting and tutorial sessions. She emphasized the commitment of the Local Government Unit of Tacurong City in supporting inter-agency initiatives that address learning gaps in basic education.

Also present during the activity were Vice Mayor Ralen Tabusares Bernardo , members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, Hon. Jinalyn Cajandig Segura Segura, Chairperson of the Committee on Women and Family, and Hon. Atch Abbie Delicana Abe , Chairperson of the Committee on Education.

“The LGU of Tacurong City remains committed to supporting programs that help improve literacy and learning among our children. Education is a shared responsibility, and through collaboration, we can create better opportunities for every learner,” Mayor Inday Lina Ortizo Montilla stated.

A significant feature of the program was the active involvement of partner institutions and youth volunteers. The Youth Development Workers, composed of education students from Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) and Iskolar Ng Lungsod Ng Tacurong, facilitated the 20-day Tatay-Nanay Parenting Sessions, equipping parents with knowledge and strategies on positive parenting, child development, and educational support at home.

Meanwhile, tutoring sessions were conducted by education students from SKSU who served as tutors for struggling readers and learners needing literacy intervention. Through interactive reading activities, guided tutorials, and learning support sessions, the student tutors helped improve the confidence and reading abilities of participating learners.

School heads and education leaders also expressed their gratitude to DSWD, DepEd, the LGU of Tacurong City, and Sultan Kudarat State University for their unwavering support in the implementation of the program.

The culminating activity featured presentations, recognition of learners, tutors, and parents, as well as messages of appreciation from partner agencies and participating schools.

The Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program continues to serve as a strong example of how collaborative and community-based interventions can address literacy challenges and promote inclusive and quality basic education for all learners.

The City Advisory Council (CAC) successfully conducted the 2nd Quarter Meeting this June 22,2026 at Mayor's Conference Room, New Executive Building, Poblacion, City of Tacurong.

Present during the meeting were City Mayor Inday Lina Ortizo Montilla , PhD, City Councilor and Committee Chair on Social Welfare Hon.Geraldine Collado , Department Heads, members, Focal person and Coordinators on DSWD Programs, City Links and guest from Philippine Statisticd Office (PSA).

The meeting served as an important venue to discuss the latest updates on the implementation of government programs and services in Tacurong City. Members and DSWD Program Coordinators presented their accomplishments reports, ongoing initiatives, and upcoming plans to the council. Also, further plans in strengthening service delivery and promoting community development were also discussed.

Moreover, Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Validation, process and generating data was discussed in the meeting for clarification and updates.The activity emphasized the significance of accurate and reliable community data in effective planning, decision-making, and the delivery of responsive programs and services to the people of Tacurong City.

The City Advisory Council remains committed to fostering collaboration among stakeholders to ensure inclusive development and improved public service for the community.
