OCD VIII CONDUCTS RDANA TRAINING IN SUPPORT OF PACIFIC PARTNERSHIP 2026

The Office of Civil Defense Region VIII conducted the Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) Training on 01 to 04 September 2026 at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Headquarters of the 546th Engineer Construction Battalion (546 ECB), Philippine Army, San Jose, Tacloban City, in support of Pacific Partnership 2026.

The four-day training brought together personnel from the 546 ECB, Bureau of Fire Protection Regional Office VIII, Tacloban City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, City Mayor’s Office, and Civil Defense Center Tacloban.

The activity focused on strengthening participants’ capacity to undertake rapid and systematic assessment of disaster impacts, identify immediate needs and priorities, and provide timely information to support operational decision-making and response planning.

OCD VIII CONDUCTS EOC TRAINING FOR RDRRMC8 MEMBERS

The Office of Civil Defense Region VIII conducted the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Training on 02–04 September 2026 at Tierra de Milagros Resort, Palo, Leyte, with participants from the Philippine Army, Philippine Air Force – Tactical Operations Group 8 (TOG 8), and Department of Information and Communications Technology Region VIII (DICT 8).

The three-day training focused on strengthening the participants’ knowledge and skills in the organization, activation, and management of an Emergency Operations Center, including coordination, information management, resource management, and other operational processes necessary to support effective disaster response.

The activity forms part of OCD Region VIII’s approved Annual Program and Budget for 2026, aimed at continuously building the capacities of partner agencies that perform critical roles during emergencies and disaster operations.

OCD VIII Acting Regional Director Erwin Rommel Lamzon emphasized the importance of maintaining functional and coordinated EOCs, particularly in ensuring timely information flow, operational coordination, and informed decision-making during emergencies. He also encouraged the participants to apply the systems and procedures discussed during the training within their respective organizations.

OCD VIII SUPPORTS HILONGOS DROUGHT RESPONSE THROUGH MOBILE DESALINATION EQUIPMENT

The Office of Civil Defense Region VIII extended assistance to the Municipality of Hilongos, Leyte through the temporary deployment of a mobile desalination machine in support of the local government’s measures to address water supply concerns brought about by the prevailing drought conditions.

The assistance was provided following the request of Municipal Mayor Manuel R. Villahermosa, citing reduced water availability in several areas of the municipality, particularly affecting agricultural activities and other essential needs.

The mobile desalination equipment will be utilized to augment available water sources and support the municipality’s ongoing drought mitigation measures.

HAZE UPDATE BULLETIN NO. 18

In light of the haze from the Indonesian wildfires, the Environmental Management Bureau RO8 brings you the latest Air Quality Status from the Tacloban Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Station.

For Particulate Matter (PM) 10 or Coarse Particles, the Air Quality Index is 40 under "GOOD" AQI.

For PM 2.5, the AQI value is at 41, categorised as "GOOD".

The Bureau will maintain 24/7 surveillance of air quality index parameters and provide updates through this official page.

AIR QUALITY UPDATE | As of 8:00 AM (c/o Civil Defense PH )

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) continues to closely monitor air quality nationwide through its network of Air Quality Monitoring Stations (AQMS) to assess the extent and potential impacts of the reported haze.

The public is encouraged to stay informed and regularly check the latest air quality conditions in their respective areas.

Nakarating na sa Pulilan, Bulacan ang mga relief items na bahagi ng "Hatid Tulong sa Sambayanan" relief caravan ng Office of Civil Defense (OCD) katuwang ang Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Nakipagpulong din sina OCD Operations Service Director Moises Nayve at OCD Central Luzon Officer-in-Charge Shelby Ruiz kay Pulilan Municipal Mayor Rolando Peralta Jr. para sa turnover ng mga relief items.

Kabilang sa mga itinurn-over ang 160 bags ng bigas, 450 bottles of drinking water, at 112 hygiene kits.

Ang Pulilan ay isa sa limang munisipalidad sa Bulacan na pupuntahan ng relief caravan ngayong araw upang maghatid ng suporta sa mga residenteng apektado ng mga nagdaang bagyo at Habagat.

Magsasagawa ngayong araw ang Office of Civil Defense (OCD), katuwang ang Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), ng "Hatid Tulong sa Sambayanan" Relief Caravan para sa mga komunidad na apektado ng sunod-sunod na bagyo at Habagat.

Isasagawa ang send-off ceremony mamaya sa Camp Aguinaldo bago bumiyahe ang relief caravan patungong Bulacan.

Kabilang sa mga tatanggap ng relief assistance ang mga apektadong munisipalidad ng Pulilan, Calumpit, Hagonoy, Paombong, at Bulakan.

Bahagi ang relief caravan ng patuloy na response operations ng pamahalaan para sa mga komunidad na nangangailangan ng agarang suporta sa gitna ng epekto ng kalamidad.
