On July 10, 2026, the Tacloban City Women and Childrenโs Shelter, in partnership with Plan International Pilipinas, Inc., successfully held the Ceremonial Turnover of the Videotaped In-Depth Disclosure Interview (VIDI) Kit. The event formally recognized the donation through the ceremonial turnover and the signing of the Deed of Donation, marking another significant milestone in the organizationsโ shared commitment to strengthening child protection systems and ensuring child-friendly, trauma-informed services for children.
The program commenced with the acknowledgment of participants led by Ms. Marites G. Roca, Social Welfare Officer and Case Worker, followed by the opening preliminaries. The welcome remarks were delivered by Ms. Fe Chona A. Bahin, CSW Officer and CDGH II, who underscored the importance of the ceremony and expressed heartfelt gratitude to Plan International Pilipinas, Inc., the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD), the Women and Children Protection Unit (WCPU) for their unwavering support to the shelter and its advocacy.
Inspirational messages were then shared by Hon. Atty. Jonathan Bon Martin N. Igana, a representative from the Tacloban City Vice Mayor's Office, and Mr. Kamrul Huda, GNO Asia Pacific Regional Controller Operations of Plan International Pilipinas, Inc. Their messages emphasized the value of collaboration in advancing children's rights and strengthening protection mechanisms for the most vulnerable members of the community.
Messages of support followed from Ms. Roca, Ms. Marsha Pilar T. Molina, Psychometrician and Psychologist II of the EVMC - Women and Children Protection Unit (WCPU), and PSSg Karen T. Ganon, representative from the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD), reaffirming their collective commitment to providing comprehensive care and justice for children who have experienced abuse.
The highlight of the event was the ceremonial turnover of the VIDI Kit. The ceremony included the presentation of the equipment, the reading of the turnover statement, and the signing of the Deed of Donation. The deed was signed by Ms. Roca, Ma'am Chona, Ms. Ovynania J. Javier, Project Manager of the "Casting A Wider Net" Project, Mr. Huda, Atty. Igana, and Ma'am Marsha. Acceptance messages were subsequently delivered by Ma'am Chona and Ma'am Marsha, followed by a guided tour of the Women and Childrenโs Shelter for the invited guests.
The celebration continued with a heartfelt intermission number presented by the shelter's residents as a tribute to Plan International Pilipinas, Inc., expressing their gratitude for the organization's steadfast support and dedication to the welfare of women and children. The event concluded with photo documentation and a fellowship among partners, stakeholders, and guests.
More than the turnover of a VIDI Kit, this ceremony celebrated a strengthened partnership and a renewed commitment to protecting children from all forms of abuse. It reaffirmed the collective responsibility of government agencies, development partners, and the community to uphold children's rights and ensure that every child has access to a safe, supportive, and healing environment.
Together, we continue to build a future where every child's voice is heard, every story is handled with dignity, and every child is given the opportunity to heal and thrive.
Padayon, mga child rights advocates!
