The Rawis Solar Pump Irrigation Project is now officially turned over to the Junction Farmers Irrigators Association, Inc. πŸ‘©β€πŸŒΎπŸ‘¨β€πŸŒΎπŸŒΎ Covering 24.35 hectares and benefiting 18 farmers, this sustainable water source will increase crop yields and stronger incomes, all while utilizing clean solar energy. ✨

The primary objectives of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) is to increase irrigated areas that contribute to agricultural productivity, the proposed Bayog Valley Irrigation Project (IP) serves as a concrete response to this goal.

β€ŽIn the radio interview on Aksyon Radyo Operation Bulig, Jimmy Angay-angay with NIA Region VIII Regional Manager Engr. Jaime C. de Jesus, shared updates on the Bayog Valley IP in Northern Samar. The project has a potential irrigable area of 1,557 hectares, set to benefit an estimated 681 farmer‑beneficiaries. Engr. de Jesus emphasized that this initiative will significantly boost agricultural productivity in Laoang, Northern Samar.

β€ŽHe also discussed the mitigation measures being implemented by the agency to address challenges brought about by the forecasted extreme El NiΓ±o phenomenon. At present, water levels in the irrigation systems remain sufficient to support the programmed area for irrigation.

These efforts aim to make water use more efficient, guide communities through the ongoing dry spell, and support the nation’s food supply. Through bayaNIAn, NIA works closely with farmers to keep irrigation systems operational, improve water delivery, and adjust farming practices based on the weather.
