Calling all UP Tacloban students to Dayón 2023 to usher in academic year 2023-2024!

Dayón 2023 is a blended orientation program for first year students and a reorientation and “acquaintance” program for continuing students. The online component is through the Dayón website at https://sites.google.com/up.edu.ph/dayonkitahauptac.

The on-campus Dayón activities will be held on 29-30 August 2023. Come and join the welcome program, socialize with your peers, meet your program faculty, and enjoy the two-day open house sessions and org expo.

A midyear sports camp will be held on 7-25 August 2023. The camp will prepare athletes for the 2023 State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) Regional Meet.

LOOK || Here are some snaps of the Baccalaureate Mass and 45th Commencement Exercises of UP Tacloban held on 24 and 25 July, respectively.

The UP Tacloban class of 2023 includes 303 graduates from eight undergraduate degree programs and two graduate degree programs. Writer, actress, producer, director, and activist Bibeth Orteza was the commencement speaker. Also present were UP officials led by UP President Angelo A. Jimenez.

Around 500 UP Tacloban alumni gathered at the UP Tacloban AS grounds on 26 June 2023 for the Grand Alumni Homecoming & Benefit Dinner organized to pool together alumni funds for UP Tacloban students who are in need of financial assistance. The gathering was part of the College’s 50th founding anniversary activities.

UP Tacloban College would like to thank all alumni who purchased tickets to the event and donated to the UP Tacloban scholarship and sponsorship fund.

The UP Tacloban 50th Founding Anniversary Fun Run held on Sunday, 28 May 2023, attracted 200 runners from Tacloban City and nearby towns.

Runners arrived at UP Tacloban early dawn.

Jemuel Arceo won 1st place in the 5 km category with an official time of 19:12:70. He was followed by Niño Sayod (2nd place) and Sotero Bagon (3rd place).

In the 3km category, Renzo Adriel Cahingcoy won first place with an official time of 11:05:10. He was followed by Nelson Mascariñas (2nd place) and Bobby Berida (3rd place).

Winners of the 5km and 3km run received medals and cash prizes. Finishers were served arroz caldo, malunggay pandesal, hot coffee, and iced drinks.

The fun run ended with a 30-minute workout led by Zumba instructor Eulogio “Zin Gio” Plameran, Jr.

The proceeds of the fun run, amounting to ₱61,251.00, will go to the Sports Development Program of UP Tacloban.

UP Tacloban participates in the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill

Earlier today, UP Tacloban staff and students participated in the 2nd quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED).

At the sound of the emergency siren, faculty, staff, and students practiced the “duck, cover, and hold” protocol, followed by an evacuation to the AS grounds (for those in the AS campus) and the DM grounds (for those in the DM campus). Unit heads and class instructors then did head counts to make sure all employees and students were accounted for.

Associate Dean for Administration Arvin L. De Veyra and the college's Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Committee led the drill.

Regular participation in the NSED aims to test and enhance the disaster risk management capabilities and preparedness of college constituents.
