🌸 TERM 1 PORTFOLIO DAY | September 9, 2026 🌸

Dr. A.P. Bañez Memorial Elementary School successfully conducted its Term 1 Portfolio Day, which serves as an opportunity to showcase and review the accomplishments, outputs, progress, and learning experiences of teachers and learners during the first term. It also provides a venue for reflection, feedback, and identifying areas for improvement to further strengthen teaching and learning.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to our District Learning Center X PSDS, Dr. Abegaile Rodrigo, for serving as our SDO Monitor during this important school activity. Accompanied by our School Principal, Dr. Rodrigo also went around the different classrooms to observe the portfolio presentations and interact with our teachers.

Thank you, Dr. Rodrigo, for your valuable time, guidance, support, and meaningful insights. Your presence and feedback inspire our school community to continuously improve and strive for excellence.

🏫 STRUCTURAL SAFETY INSPECTION AT DAPBMES

Last Friday, September 4, 2026, DAPBMES formally requested the City Engineering Office (CEO) to inspect the structural stability and safety of our school classrooms.

Today, September 8, 2026, the CEO engineers promptly visited our school and conducted a thorough inspection of the classrooms and school facilities. Engr. Badrina, Administrative Officer, accompanied the CEO engineers during the inspection and school walkthrough.

The CEO will prepare their assessment and recommendations for submission to the proper authorities, including the possible funding of a new school building and the repair/renovation of classrooms needing attention.

We sincerely hope that our school will be given priority for the necessary funding and improvements for the safety and welfare of our learners, teachers, and stakeholders.

Dr. A.P. Bañez Memorial Elementary School successfully conducted the National Simultaneous School Safety Drill for Active Attack Incidents on September 3, 2026.

The activity aimed to strengthen the preparedness of school personnel and learners in responding to potential active attack situations, emphasizing safety, proper coordination, communication, accountability, and appropriate response procedures.

The drill also highlighted the importance of maintaining a child-protection, trauma-informed, and psychologically safe approach during emergency preparedness activities.

Through this activity, DAPBMES continues to strengthen its commitment to ensuring a safe, secure, and prepared learning environment for all learners and personnel.

🏫 School Fencing Project: Strengthening Safety and Security at DAPBMES

On September 2, 2026, a team from the City Engineering Office (CEO), composed of architects and engineers, visited Dr. A.P. Bañez Memorial Elementary School (DAPBMES) pursuant to the mandate of the City Mayor to assess schools and propose projects that will strengthen school safety and security, particularly through the construction of school fencing.

The CEO team was received by our School Administrative Officer, who facilitated the discussion and coordination. During the visit, the team presented the documentary requirements needed for the implementation and funding of the proposed fencing project.

Our school immediately responded and submitted the required documents, demonstrating our commitment to ensuring a safe, secure, and conducive learning environment for our learners and personnel.

We are grateful to the CEO team for recognizing DAPBMES as one of the schools that acted promptly on the requirements and for informing us that our school is among those targeted for funding this year.

We sincerely hope that the project will be realized soon. May this initiative further strengthen the safety and protection of our learners, teachers, and the entire school community. 🙏🏫

~ PROMOTING PEACE AND AWARENESS~

This afternoon, August 13, 2026, two police officers from Tacloban City Police Station 1 visited DAPBMES and met with our School Administrative Officer to discuss Nihilistic Violent Extremism (NVE) and the importance of awareness and prevention in our school community.

DAPBMES stands for peace, unity, respect, and a safe learning environment. Our police partners also shared that the school may invite them for a seminar or orientation for learners and parents to further strengthen awareness on NVE and violence prevention.

📚 DIVISION MONITORING ON THE DELIVERY, UTILIZATION, STORAGE, AND MAINTENANCE OF DEPED-PROCURED LEARNING RESOURCES

On Monday, August 10, 2026, Dr. A.P. Bañez Memorial Elementary School welcomed the Division Monitoring Team from DepEd Tacloban City for the monitoring of the Delivery, Utilization, Storage, and Maintenance of DepEd-Procured Learning Resources.

The monitoring activity was led by CID Chief and Concurrent OIC-ASDS, Sir Mark Chester Anthony G. Tamayo, together with the dedicated team of Education Program Supervisors (EPS) from the Curriculum Implementation Division.

The activity aimed to ensure that DepEd-procured learning resources are properly received, accounted for, stored, maintained, and utilized effectively in support of quality teaching and learning.

DAPBMES expresses its sincere appreciation to the CID Monitoring Team for their valuable time, guidance, technical assistance, and continued support in strengthening the school's management and utilization of learning resources.

Our gratitude also goes to the School Administration and personnel for their cooperation and commitment in ensuring that our learning resources are properly managed and made accessible to our learners and teachers. 📖✨

Last Saturday, August 8, 2026, Dr. A.P. Bañez Memorial Elementary School came alive with energy, excitement, teamwork, and sportsmanship as we held our Sports Fest 2026! 🎉👏

With the theme “UNITED IN SPORTS, STRONGER IN SPIRIT,” our learners showcased not only their athletic skills but also the values of teamwork, discipline, determination, camaraderie, fair play, and respect. 💪❤️

From every game, every cheer, every winning moment, and even every hard-fought challenge, our young athletes reminded us that sports are not only about winning—they are about building friendships, developing confidence, learning to work together, and becoming stronger individuals. 🏅✨

A special shout-out and heartfelt THANK YOU to the DAPBMES Marching Band for providing the lively and inspiring music during our parade! 🎺🥁🎶 Your music added excitement and made the opening of our Sports Fest even more memorable.

Yesterday, August 3, 2026, Dr. A.P. Bañez Memorial Elementary School (DAPBMES) proudly celebrated its 61st Founding Anniversary—a significant milestone that honors six decades of commitment to quality education, dedicated service, and community partnership.

Established in 1965, DAPBMES traces its humble beginnings to the generosity of the family of the late Dr. Agustin Pedro Bañez, who donated the land where the school now stands. Their vision and generosity laid the foundation for what would become a nurturing institution that has educated and inspired generations of learners in Fatima Village, Tacloban City.

From its early years with a handful of classrooms and dedicated educators, DAPBMES has steadily grown into one of the city's respected public elementary schools. Throughout the decades, the school has continuously improved its learning environment by expanding its facilities, embracing educational innovations, strengthening learner-centered programs, and fostering meaningful partnerships with parents, alumni, local government units, and community stakeholders.

DAPBMES has also remained steadfast through every challenge and milestone in its history.
