TACLOBAN CITY, Eastern Visayas โ€” In support of employment facilitation efforts and initiatives to promote accessible job opportunities, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Regional Office VIII is currently participating in the Mayorโ€™s Employment Generation Activity (MEGA) Job Fair at the Activity Area of Robinsons North Tacloban, Tacloban City.

DMW RO VIII OIC-Regional Director Atty. Lovely Aissa B. Velayo-Agliam, together with Mr. Walter Marc C. Cantero, LEO II, and Ms. Patricia T. Uyvico, LEO I, are joining the activity in support of the initiative and the continuing efforts to assist returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), aspiring OFWs, and other jobseekers in exploring employment opportunities.

With 1,700 job vacancies offered by licensed recruitment agencies, the job fair is providing qualified applicants with opportunities to pursue overseas employment and take meaningful steps toward building their careers.

Through its participation, DMW RO VIII is reaffirming its commitment to employment facilitation and helping Filipino workers access safe, legal, and legitimate overseas employment opportunities.

Borongan City - The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Regional Office VIII is exploring the establishment of a provincial office in Eastern Samar to make its programs and services more accessible to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families within the province.

On October 21, 2026, Officer-in-Charge Regional Director ๐—”๐˜๐˜๐˜†. ๐—Ÿ๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—น๐˜† ๐—”๐—ถ๐˜€๐˜€๐—ฎ ๐—•. ๐—ฉ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜†๐—ผ-๐—”๐—ด๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—บ led a courtesy visit to ๐—š๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ป๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—ฅ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ฝ๐—ต ๐—ฉ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜ โ€œ๐—ฅ๐—ฉโ€ ๐—˜๐˜ƒ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฑ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฒ at the Provincial Governorโ€™s Office to discuss the proposed DMW office in the province.

The proposed office aims to bring the Departmentโ€™s programs and services closer to Estehanons, particularly OFWs and their families who need assistance and guidance on matters within the DMWโ€™s mandate.

Governor Evardone expressed support for the initiative, recognizing the importance of improving public service delivery for Estehanons.

This is reflected in the โ‚ฑ๐Ÿฐ,๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿณ,๐Ÿฒ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿญ.๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿต in monetary settlements secured for migrant workers through the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) services of the Department of Migrant Workers Regional Office VIII (DMW RO VIII) from January to September 2026.

Through its Migrant Workers Protection Division, DMW RO VIII disposed of all 132 ADR requests, achieving a 100 percent disposition rate with no pending requests at the end of the period.

Of these, 104 requests were classified as settledโ€”94 through compromise agreements and 10 through withdrawalโ€”resulting in a 79 percent settlement rate. Another 17 requests were endorsed for adjudication or to the National Labor Relations Commission, while 11 were dropped.

By facilitating dialogue between migrant workers and their employers or recruitment agencies, DMW RO VIII helped address recruitment violations and money claims, providing workers with an avenue to resolve employment-related disputes and pursue their rightful claims.

As the nation celebrates the 37th National Statistics Month this October 2026, DMW RO VIII highlights these accomplishments to demonstrate how statistics go beyond measuring government performance. More importantly, they reflect tangible outcomes for migrant workers and provide a basis for strengthening the delivery of protection services.
