𝚃𝙲𝙱𝚊𝙽𝚂𝙰 𝙶𝚎𝚗𝚎𝚛𝚊𝚕 𝙰𝚜𝚜𝚎𝚖𝚋𝚕𝚢

The Tacloban City Barangay Nutrition Scholar Association (TCBaNSA) is an alliance of all Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs) in Tacloban City. It was established on February 25, 2008.

The 18th General Assembly of TCBaNSA was held on March 11, 2026, at the Leyte Medical Society, Brgy. 74 Lower Nula-Tula. The assembly was presided over by the current TCBaNSA President, Ms. Zyryl Ricafort.

The event served as a pre-orientation for new TCBaNSA members, highlighting the organization's history, overview, and official Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) registration status. The agenda also included the presentation of financial reports to ensure transparency, as well as the 2025 Accomplishment Reports.

The City Nutrition Office was invited to assist with the preparation of the association's 2026 nutrition plans and to provide updates regarding the new and active BNSs in Tacloban City

​Today, March 6, 2026, the Tacloban City Nutrition Office joined the 𝒲𝑜𝓂𝑒𝓃’𝓈 𝒲𝒶𝓁𝓀 in celebration of National Women’s Month. This activity promotes gender equality and women’s empowerment under the theme, '𝙒𝙀 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙂𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙀𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙣 𝙄𝙣𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙮,' and the sub-theme, ‘𝓛𝓮𝓪𝓭 𝓵𝓲𝓴𝓮 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓑𝓪𝓫𝓪𝔂𝓵𝓪𝓷𝓼, 𝓕𝓲𝓵𝓲𝓹𝓲𝓷𝓪𝓼'.

On February 26, 2026, the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol (MELLPI Pro) was conducted in Barangay 97 Cabalawan to assess its nutrition status.

MELLPI Pro serves as an assessment framework to verify that local nutrition initiatives meet national criteria, ensuring that community resources are efficiently directed toward enhancing public health outcomes.

The session was attended by the Barangay Nutrition Committee, led by Barangay Captain Hon. Ronillo Macauba, along with members of the Barangay Council.

Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) Elsa De Leon also underwent the assessment.

On February 23, 2026, the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol (MELLPI Pro) was conducted at Barangay 82 Villa dolina to assess the barangay’s nutrition status.

MELLPI Pro serves as an assessment framework to verify that local nutrition initiatives meet national criteria, ensuring that community resources are efficiently directed toward enhancing public health outcomes.

The evaluation was attended by the Barangay Nutrition Committee, led by Barangay Captain Hon. Michael Elecho , along with members of the Barangay Council.

The new Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS), Rosemarie Montes, assisted the evaluators with the required documentation from the 2025 calendar year.

On February 25, 2026, Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol was conducted at Barangay 107 Sta. Elena.

MELLPI Pro is the monitoring and evaluation mechanism for the implementation of the PPAN at the local level. It is conducted annually to evaluate the BNAP implementation, BNC management, and changes in the area's nutritional status (National Nutrition Council, 2019).

It was attended by the Barangay Nutrition Committee, led by their Barangay Captain Hon. Rosa Estrella along with the other members.

Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) Melanie Senecida took the assessment while the new recommended BNS Ms. Ginna Indic had its observation.

𝙼𝙴𝙻𝙻𝙿𝙸 𝙿𝚛𝚘 𝚊𝚝 𝙱𝚊𝚛𝚊𝚗𝚐𝚊𝚢 37-A

To monitor and evaluate local nutrition progress, the Monitoring and Evaluation Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol (MELLPI) Pro team visited Barangay 37-A on 16th of February 2026. The evaluation team performed on-site inspections and audited official records to measure the effectiveness of their nutrition programs.

Hon. Rado Boy Rodriguez and the Barangay Council were present for the monitoring and evaluation, while Barangay Nutrition Scholar Zenaida Insigne underwent an assessment.
